According to reports, CBS News executives are in "panic" mode over the CBS Evening News under Jeff Glor's tenure due to a decrease in ratings. As a consequence, the Executive Producer of "Evening News" told staffers to copy its sister program, the popular CBS This Morning. Reports also indicate that CTM presenter Norah O'Donnell was passed over for the job, a decision executives may be regretting.

Literally, two of the articles you've linked to, are page six articles from the New York Post. The New York Post is only semi-reputable at best, and Page Six has literally no credibility at all. It is known that they have on many occasions simply made stuff up when looking for material to fill that page, so anything Page Six reports NEEDS independent verification.

That said, I do think there is concern over Jeff Glor's ratings, and the recent change to do an Eyeopener-style 60 second opening to the Evening News, is a great idea, as it does link the broadcasts much more than it ever used to.

They seem to be forever messing with the CBS Evening News. From this side of the atlantic it generally looks great and the more interesting of the main three network newscasts. The new opener is a nice idea though, but if you're worried your main anchor isn't appealing enough don't put their name in the programme title the second you sign them up. Sell the product on the CBS name, not the newscasters.

While I may not agree with Page Six, they have had their moments where their reporting is legit. ("A broken clock is right twice a day")

Personally, the Evening News did better under Pelley due to his gravitas that carried over from 60 Minutes. If CBS really wanted to be different, they could have taken inspiration from CBC News: The National and have a team of presenters than focusing on the one.

They are so few and far between, and always reported by other more legitimate sources, that you really should drop them as a quotable source. Seriously. You do your own credibility down by using them.

The NY Post was the first one to report the internal conflict with and eventual ousting of Scott Pelley. I wouldn't immediately dismiss anything from them as wholly untrue.

If anything, the constant tinkering of the newscast could very well also be a sign that all is not well off camera.

Looks like things are only getting worse for wear at the CBS Evening News. The ratings have been down for 24 of 26 weeks when comparing them to the same period the year prior

Rare graphics or any sort of technical screw up on msnbc. They keyed text over an existing template.
