Someone once told me, and it would make sense if it's true, that Celador insisted of ITV and BBC that Millionaire and Winning Lines were forbidden from clashing with each other on a Saturday night. Anyone know if it's true.

No, because there was a Saturday night in September 1999 when the two shows clashed for their entire duration.

ITV used to use Millionaire as a spoiler for virtually every BBC1 show in those days, whenever there was a new series starting on BBC1 there'd be an episode of Millionaire on ITV.

I remember the OFAH episode where they had to invent a ‘fake’ WWTBAM with Jonathan Ross!

Looks like they did try for the real deal but ITV said no!

There’s Studio 12 at The Old Granada Studios

According to this page, all the studios at the former Granada site are available for use.

Not as TV studios though, you'll notice that they all say they're available as a venue or for film and sound use. They're what are known as 4-wallers.

Of course they could hire an OB scanner and cameras and use one like that but why bother when MediaCity has fully equipped studios and production facilities like makeup, dressing rooms and hospitality all up and running

I’ve always been a Millionaire fan so glad it’s coming back. Clarkson is an interesting choice - I’m willing to give it a whirl.

Assuming they sort the music cues and ditch the clock, I wouldn’t mind it coming back live across the week. There would be no need to rush them through - klaxon goes and they come back the following night. They’d just need to be prepared on the final night to either extend the programme at the last minute or have a montage of the week’s winners / the show’s winners at the ready.

Clarkson will be an attempt to have an Anne Robinson type in charge of the questions, as Jeremy is not the most comforting person to be host of this show.

He's quite chummy and matey when he interviews people, and that's what the role requires. Chris Tarrant and the others are always on the contestants side. Anne Robinson's style won't work and I can't see Clarkson doing it, he couldn't keep up the act for a start

If that's the theme they're using. Thumbs up
Also nice update to the set, not sure about the video floor though, one thing a liked about the last version of the set was the way the monitor stands came from a bottomless pit.

Looks like there are now only six fastest finger first places.

The studio looks amazing. This better be a full series.

I think Clarkson will be very good on this. Hopefully it will show those who dislike him that there is more to him than the character he plays on Grand Tour / Top Gear.
