They ought to ditch the lighting on the table - it looks like some kind of psychedelic seance table, rather than a news-ish table.

You know they'd be a bit buggered if they get a news reader who uses a wheelchair...

Or a studio guest who uses a wheelchair!

Maybe they have a ramp they can bring on to get the person on and off the platform?

It's possible, but trust me, it'd have to be a pretty long ramp (I have experience of pushing someone in a wheelchair, it takes a *lot* of effort to get up any ramp, and I'm not really that weak...).

You would have thought they'd just design a set to be wheelchair-friendly in the first place.

They'd probably just interview them from the news centre.

There is a ramp to allow access to the raised area for wheelchair using presenters and guests. The BBC would be very foolish to create a news set for their main news output that could not accommodate a wheelchair user - to do so would be discriminatory...

It is also used to rig plasmas on the set for Hardtalk down-the-lines.

How different is the Hardtalk set to the National News? Is it just a colour change?

The rear projectors are filled with Hardtalk branded orangey/yellow images rather than the virtual newsroom. The camera angles used are a bit different, and if an interviewee is in a remote location a plasma is used instead of the big-screen projectors.

The left and right walls remain red for Hardtalk.

Sportstalk - now called ExtraTime possibly - uses a blue branding - with blue logos in the rear wall and the left and right walls lit blue.

Has anyone got any pictures of the different uses of the set in Hardtalk/Sportstalk branding?
