The first thing that springs to mind is more cost-cutting. SJM may be a 'Sky' name, but doesn't have the broad appeal that Eamonn Holmes had on the programme.

It may explain why she left Sky Sports, where her talents were better utilised to present cover shifts on Sky News.

On the other hand, Dan Walker has made the successful transition from sports presenter to mainstream news presenter over on Breakfast.

She is VERY popular with viewers, though, in that she - like Eamonn - can turn her hand to anything and make it look easy - and on a personal note, I can say she's a joy to work with. We're hopeful that those viewers who aren't yet familiar with her will find her as engaging, authoritative and easy-to-watch as those who've already registered thier opinion.

Have you checked the ratings for the period Sarah-Jane stood in for Eamonn when he was off for his hip operations?

With respect Skygeek, she may be popular with Sky's niche audience, but has she ever presented a mainstream programme on the BBC or ITV? Nope. That's what I mean by having a 'broad appeal'

Personally I think they put the duos on the wrong days, Dixon and Webster should do weekdays.

Right, but neither had Simon McCoy, Penny Smith, Sarah Montague, Emily Maitlis or Charlotte Hawkins. They started at Sky and have become a wider part of the public consciousness elsewhere - same goes for Julie Etchingham,, although she was something of a BBC name before she came to Sky.

That's not to suggest, however, that SJ will need to go elsewhere in order to gain broader recognition, only that she deserves it and we hope new audience members will sample the new Sunrise, see what they like, stick around, and give SJ and the show the success they deserve.

Exactly. This isn't meant as a criticism of TVF specifically (though it can apply here at times) but people assume that if Presenter X (who may even appear to be an heir-apparent) doesn't get the slot viewers thought they should/would, it means Presenter X will feel hard-done-by. There will be instances where that is the case (not just at Sky - I mean in general), but Stephen definitely doesn't fit into that category.

It looks like that picture was taken in the new "Burley Box" in Sky Central and also shows the new desk/pedestal. I wonder if the new Sunrise will launch from the new studio?

Sorry. Im not a fan of this new look. Its soo...(to me)...not Sky News. Sky News always had just the right amount of "sparkle" (for lack of a better phrase) to make it different from the other UK news orgs. Now they are going super bland. The current graphics with no TOTH (I love the cohesion of the graphics and the look overall) and the ehh version of the theme and this new daytime presenter cube with possibly the most boring view..... Tesco Extra backdrop. Porridge. Magnolia....ehhhh.
