RTE's highlights show with Jacqui Hurley, Aidan Power, and Damien Duff a bit odd, employing the Monday Night Football style faux-touchscreen. They haven't shown any actual highlights yet, which given they were on air straight after the first and only game of the day is probably just as well.

What does anyone think of the start of the opening ceremony for the Euros?

Rubbish, I've not seen it but rubbish.

I know it's only the football, but it was quite rubbish. I don't think I've seen a DJ set performed without any lighting or visual effects before.

Pretty big reflection in the BBC studio window when at night - it really doesn't look that good, which is a shame, as the view is wonderful.

RTE's live scoreboard graphic is the official one from UFEA's world feed. It is coloured in blue & white & the RTE logo is placed on the left hand side with the live timer being on the opposite end of it. The DOG for RTE2 HD is still on the right hand side though.

I had a glance at ITV Sport's scorebar for a few seconds as well. It's not as good looking as the UFEA one. I think the new design for ITV's version is quite bland & has a real cheap look to it. I can barely see the ITV Sport logo on screen at all. It looks like it's not a high quality logo as it looks fuzzy on the screen.

The ITV Sport logo looks really good on ITV HD. I have a samsung smart 1080p HDTV. I put it on 100% Sharpness, so the High Definition channels look really good. Were you watching in HD or SD?

Surprised Lineker is presenting the highlights show tonight. Guess it's a sign of the times.

Anyway I'm off for a can of Probably.

She needs the work since the BBC gave Mario Balotelli her Wimbledon gig.

I was watching ITV HD. I don't have a proper HDTV so it was being seen via a combi box with a scart lead on the TV.

Ah yes, Carlsberg's attempt to circumvent the French ban on the advertising of alcohol. I vaguely remember the Liverpool team once having to cover the Carlsberg logo on their shirts with gaffer tape while playing a Champions League game in France.

I wonder how many viewers across Europe understand the brand connection with the English word "Probably".

Easy enough to sort, just run adverts with both the "Probably" logo and the Carlsberg logo in countries where it's allowed.

If you're using a SCART cable, you box is downconverting HD to SD and it might not be doing it very well. It might be better on the standard ITV SD channel

As someone noted on DS, on the ITV titles on the train departure board it refers to ITV Sports

Oh dear!

Why?
ITV have Football, Rugby Union, Darts, Tennis, Cycling, Boxing, Snooker, Moto GP, Touring Cars, and from January 1st -
Horse Racing.

If that's not 'Sports' then I don't know what is.
