During the Olympics...
...BBC Sport and BBC News will join forces to bring a special edition of BBC Breakfast. The famous sofa will move home and come live from the centre of BBC Sport’s hub to bring viewers all the highlights and extended Games coverage every day from 6am.

If Breakfast is going to come from 'The BBC Sports Centre' during the Olympics then, I believe, that was the original planned location where Breakfast was going to come from..

With Dan Walker down to present Olympic coverage every evening from 1800-0100 UK, are we assuming he won't be doing Breakfast as well? 10 hours of broadcasting a day is a bit much.

Very much hoping Louise is sent to Rio for the duration.

So will they use the current studio used for NC and network bulletins? This allows for World to continue as normal.

I read "BBC Sport's hub" to mean "BBC Sport's hub on location" but maybe not. During the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, BBC Breakfast and BBC Sport coverage came from the same studio on the banks of the Clyde, with BBC Breakfast's velcro branding quickly removed at 09:15.

However, Breakfast will be airing at 2:00am - 5:15am local time in Rio, so not much to see?

For the avoidance of doubt, it's this one:

Convenient that it bears more than a passing resemblance to this Wink

The BBC Sport centre is by far the best studio at Salford - wouldn't mind that change being permanent, though at least hope they're kicking them out of the main studio for two weeks because they're taking the opportunity to change the set. After all there is no reason for them not to use the Breakfast set otherwise.

I think although an obvious choice for the alternative primetime coverage it's a shame really they're not taking the opportunity to use Dan's strengths in sports broadcasting and building Olympic Breakfast around him, perhaps with Dan in Rio and Louise/Naga in Salford with the news element.

If there isn't a set change, NWT 'could' use the set for breakfast bulletins if they're still there during Olympic Breakfast? Although I suspect they'll use the normal studio for Breakfast.

There's a picture of them being used by the BBC on the same page .
