In a way, Soapstars was a precursor to the Andrew Lloyd Webber search show. It’s surprising neither the BBC or ITV have considered bringing it back in some form.

Wasn’t there general dislike of the idea of getting a soap acting job as a prize from within Equity and the acting profession generally though? Actors can spend long periods of time unemployed and searching for work, or doing whatever work they can get so I can understand their annoyance.

I recall that there was a lot of unrest from the cast of Emmerdale at the time, and the entire family were written out within a year anyway.

The show itself was awful, with head judge Yvon Grace (more famous on here for the disastrous 2003 Crossroads reboot) trying to emulate Nigel Lythgoe's persona in Popstars (which Simon Cowell has done a somewhat better job of!) but it not really working.

If you're gonna do that better to do it as a fly-on-the-wall documentary.

On the subject of Misha B, she was getting Bottom 2 quite a lot but getting saved. The producers still pimped her though despite the public rejecting her.

The reason Kitty did what she did was largely due to the fact she wanted to sing Born This Way on Gaga week, but the song had been given to, yep, Misha B.

Kitty incidentally auditioned on Soapstars. It's on YouTube somewhere but I'm struggling to find it now...

Ah yes - Kitty was a huge fan of Gaga and performed a lot of her songs outside of the show, so it only seems right that on Gaga vs Queen week she sung... Don’t Stop Me Now.
DE88, Cando and fanoftv gave kudos

Watching tonight’s show and the band definitely adds atmosphere to the show, it would be a great way to make live shows feel extra special to have a live band imo, but would there be too many comparisons to the voice.

I notice that they’ve taken the backwards decision of getting the judges to introduce their own artists again which disrupts the flow.

I still can’t warm to Louis as a judge. I feel the show is definitely missing Robbie, he made a big impact to the series.

I was surprised to hear that next week is the semifinal meaning that the final will take place on the 1st December. What will itv fill the Saturday night schedule with for the last few Saturdays before Christmas?

Same as last year, so we will have

8th Dec - I'm a Celeb semi final in the middle of prime time
15th Dec - A throwaway film as filler to cover over the Strictly final
22nd Dec - Pre-christmas film and/or specials, Keyhole, Jonathan Ross etc

The actress who played the mum if memory serves me right was quite good. Kids and the dad were poor.

Bit of an exaggeration - not sure how much people care that there are 8 acts on the tour rather than 6.

Surely the people buying tickets would like it, more acts for your money :p
