I can't remember where I saw it, but the headline was "Popstars: AXED" - I think it was on Digital Spy but like I said, I'm not entirely sure. MediaGuardian is refusing to do any searches for me.

I doubt it will be back anyway, due to the bad press though I wouldn't be too surprised to see "Mosh-ers" or "Rock-stars" or something similar.

I don't think "Axed" is really the word to use, more like they just arn't making another series, which they wern't necessarly going to do anyway. You could say that all one-off shows are axed as they never return!, only continuous/long running series can really be axed as such!

Well, they're not going to promote it as worse than series 1 are they?

I wonder whether when it gets to the final two the winner will be decided on a phone vote or in a similar way to Popstars: The Rivals, with the two finalists both releasing their single and the one with the highest chart position (in theory, the one with the number one - although it be very funny if the Fame Academy winner beat them to it) declared the winner.

Well since the BBC are so naughty in getting rid of globes and startup sequences he doesn't watch those channels anymore and his 1970's TV doesn't receive 4 or 5... so yes... Laughing

No, but we reality-haters are stuck between a rock and a hard place. In other words Lame Academy on BBC1. This really is an unfair piece of scheduling. And before you say it BBC2, C4 and C5 don't offer the kind of programming normally associated with Saturday nights.

It may interest you to know that my 2000 Hitachi 28" widescreen with 3D sound can receive up to 59 channels. 1970s sets were perfectly capable of receiving C4 and C5 - they used the same 21-69 tuning system. The channels just didn't exist.

ITV expect to make over £120m from Pop Idol 2, including a £6m Nestle sponsorship deal and £5m from voting (they'll hope there is no Big Brother style drop then!), according to The People.

The series is 20 episodes long, so I'll guess that is 6 auditions, 5 heats and 9 rounds including the final.

I expect with the show being brought forward it'll air weekly, so run right up to Christmas.

If the show has 20 episodes then the final show will air on the Saturday before Christmas - but they usually take a week off for the Record of the Year which is shown in Mid December (also presented by Ant andDec) so that could mean the final of Pop Idol could be on Xmas Day this year. That along with Emmie and Coro St could mean a ratings sucess for ITV1 this Xmas Day.
