The music also sounds much louder this series compared to previous series, i wonder if they’re making up for the lack of the audience by just piping all music directly to the studio like they did in the Tarrant era (at a level where contestants could hear them).

Agree with other comments, all looks pretty normal and they could easily use this set style any time the situation warrants.

They piped the music to the studio even with an audience, although weirdly not for the first 5 questions!

On the subject of video calls! How come the French version of WWBTAM actually manage to do this show rather well from people's homes during Covid instead of going into the studio to record it? Does it add up that the French infrastructure being more advanced than the UK or were the French Covid regulations a big factor in being able to do quiz shows from home?

The phone-in competition prize money for this season is now back at £64k. It was £125k last season.

Well ITV didn’t need to do it. They already had a series in the can which aired in the early stages of lockdown, along with a series of Beat The Chasers. So I think they had more than their usual share of big money gameshows.

ITV could have done it, but the French version usually does more celebrities specials in the first place and I doubt they'd have wanted to do a normal human being version like that.

Is Calum the first millionaire in Jeremy Clarkson's rein for tomorrow night?

He seems to breeze through the questions very easily with Jeremy.

Doesn't close till mid-November so I'm guessing more episodes to follow later in the autumn.

Except for the two he needed to use lifelines for.

My guess is it’s not him, as they’re likely to want to show it towards the end of the week.

Maybe France didn’t have as big a stock pile of quiz shows as we do

ITV managed to roll out new series of Millionaire, Beat the Chasers, Rolling in it, Epic Gameshow, and also there are signs viewers are tiring of zoom based tv shows

Watching on +1 now. Think it works brilliantly without an audience. Feels more intimate and tense.
Meridian AM, DeMarkay and TVMan gave kudos

I think audiences got fed up of Zoom based shows fairly quickly.

I would agree with that, Kevin Lygo said a few months ago he was bored of them. They were certainly interesting as a novelty but I think there is a finite number we can sit through before we want to see proper telly shows filmed in a proper telly studio.

Just so thrilled this is catching on.
