Other updates:-

BBC Radio was off air on Sky Digital bar Radio 2 and 4 but off on Freeview.
UKTV Channels were showing the usual screen except that it's an out of date version (Still has UK Gold 2 on)
UK History had a caption with yellow on blue writing with a loop saying that there is a fault.
Community channel on freeview was off, The Big read on 701 has/had an apology caption.

Still more tommorow from 04:10 on BBC One and 04:00 on BBC Two.

I don't remember what happened to the tone, but the picture flicker was on both 1 and 2.

BBC1:
Silent ident then joined News 24 bang on 5:00

BBC2:
Slightly later than BBC1, a Learning Zone ident with regular announcement.

One Digital faded out of TCJ and into a silent Caporica (or however it's spelled, I'm too tired to check) with an anno into News 24. Since Two was indeed slightly later, I also managed to see the Learning Zone ident.

...and we're done for another year! Roll on 2004!

Yeah, that was a nice little mistake suitably ending this year's tests.

And I'd like to correct my slip of the tounge from my previous post - we're NOT done for another year yet, of course we still have tomorrows tests. Quite why they've been spread across two days is unknown to me, but who's complaining? More testcard action to come!

I've just worked out that the split-second of programme we saw just after the bit of the LZ ident during the BBC Two closedown was from the 5:00 LZ programme so I'd guess it got played out an hour early but the test card was over the top.

Anyway there's another scheduled closedown for the same time tomorrow night... it's not over yet.

I'll certainly be up tonight, although perhaps the title of this thread should be changed to include this downtime news.

Consider it done,

Here's what I noticed while watching the tests earlier:

BBC2 TCW (Later TCJ) in a funny ratio
BBC1 TCJ
UK Gold +1 A rather bright magenta screen!
UK Gold Just the usual UKTV slide
UK History PM5544 test card (without the coloured ' [ ] ' bars at the side)

Some videos I'm currently in the process of uploading...

BBC One closedown 3-12-2003 (2.79 Mb, Real 9 format) - closedown and open up

BBC Two closedown 3-12-2003 (8.09 Mb, Real 9 format) - closedown, change from W to J, flicker of LZ programming, flicker to black, open up.

Thanks, they're brilliant.
I was particularly interested at the Capoeira ident at the end, as the announcer is completely different to the one I heard on Digital! The one I heard was a man's voice, saying that we 'can now return to BBC News 24'. Seeing as the female voice on the Real Media video is the same one doing the closedown announcement, maybe this male voice did a different announcement on Digital. Unfortunately I was watching on Analogue because I was worried Digital would go to News 24 like last year instead of TCJ, so I heard the same voice on the Real Media file.
I hope you don't mind, but I've done some better versions of the screengrabs posted by you on this page. The image isn't as pixelated and the filesize is smaller. Here's an example-
