Can anyone try and translate this load of nonsense above?

''Well I was thinking because Channel 5's only success was Big Brother and now that's not made anymore. I feel like ViacomCBS may just give up on 5 if the ratings drop as more 5 viewers move to the other 4 channels. As 5 is so not as good as BBC 1&2, ITV and C4, 5 may just go in the next 5-10 years because of its poor amount of programming. But if ViacomCBS pulls something out that will draw viewers in to watch 5, well that would be a miracle but I don't think that will happen anytime soon. Anyways for some reason I sometimes enjoy C5 programming. ''

It was a tough one.

Is this supposed to be a joke?!

Channel of the Year - RTS Programme Awards

Quote:
A confident broadcaster reaping the rewards of years of steady growth and development – a channel that increasingly now both surprises and delights.

In the seven years that Frow has run Channel 5 he has transformed the station into an agile operator, weaning it off US acquisitions to become a service known for its no-frills, but engaging, factual shows – often hosted by A-list presenters.

Channel of the Year - Broadcast Awards

Quote:
Michael Palin, Jeremy Paxman, Michael Portillo, Jeremy Vine, Chris Packham: such a talent line-up on Channel 5 would have been unthinkable a few years ago.

Now it is taken as read, and the likes of John Humphrys, Anita Rani and David Olusoga will soon follow suit. C5 is a supremely confident broadcaster with a clear sense of identity and genuine momentum, which has helped it shrug off bigger and better-resourced rivals to become Broadcast’s Channel of the Year.

It could have been very different in its first year without Big Brother to prop up share, bring in youngs and fill great swathes of the primetime schedule. Instead, C5 was the only PSB to grow its all-hours share in calendar year 2019 and, remarkably, kept its peaktime share flat.

Channel of the Year - Edinburgh TV Awards

Quote:
Since his appointment in February 2013, Ben has driven a creative renewal of Channel 5, previously an acquisitions-focused channel, by investing significantly in a slate of high quality originations across a range of genres. During his tenure, the number of original commissions in peak time has increased by 40% with over 100 original series or specials transmitting over the last twelve months.

Channel 5 has broadened the scope of its programming, commissioning history, natural history, drama, entertainment and comedy series to build on its roots in factual programming, attracting talent ranging from Michael Palin to Michael Portillo, Jane McDonald to Jeremy Vine.

I have to agree. Channel 5 has come a hell of a long way in its 23 year history. Its documentaries in particular are as good in their own way as BBC 4's are in their own way.

Its a change from the three F's.

There's also the situation regarding PSB in the future. Definitions of PSB could change and there could also be changes in legislation for how it should (or must) be delivered to viewers.

Except for those dreadfully sycophantic documentaries about the 'royal family'. Aside from the factual inaccuracies, it scares me that some people may believe what they are saying.

I think the travel documentaries are good on Channel 5. As well as Michael Palin and Portillo, both Tony Robinson and Chris Tarrant do good railway programmes. I always find the places they visit interesting and the people they interview mostly give a good insight into the customs of their local area.

Oh I agree with that. That's just a**licking of the highest order. To me "Paddington" is one of the best programmes on the tv right now.

Milkshake however still gets good ratings for C5, It’s mix of Nick Jr (a pay channel)’s programming along with originals is enough to say that I don’t think it’s going anywhere.

I'm slightly out of Milkshake's target audience Very Happy But at least its still honouring its PSB requirment.

Dare I ask why you think that?
You're entitled to your opinion of course, but it tends to look better if you explain why you think that...
