I'll be perplexed if they really do show the same episode twice consecutively in the 7.30pm timeslot

It went out at 21:30 last Friday so either a human error in scheduling, or it's deliberate in case people missed it because it was on later.

A couple of other recent episodes have gone out at 21:30 while the proms have been on though, and they weren't repeated the following week.

Though, Rich, with your once a week suggestion, the show would have to be taking regular weekly breaks because of the skipped episodes. During 2015 it was off for something like 10 weeks while the proms were on in addition to the Sky At Night gaps. At least with the twice weekly schedule, it's rare there isn't at least one episode a week and there's been no 10 week gaps, though we did get the stupidly long November/December break last year (though we won't this year). Plus I prefer the higher number of episodes too, I don't see the "35 years to the week" (though it rarely was anyway due to all the missed episodes) to be that important.

dvboy has the answer I think.

For continuity's sake and considering they're effectively one episode ahead, it does come across as a bit of a shambles but it's never been any different with the repeats, no matter how bizarre the slot & confused the Pops fan.

It also looks like the repeat this Saturday is the Peel/Long edition which will make it 4 times this specific episode has been shown.

If this does turn out to be the case I think I'll have a pint of whatever the BBC4 schedulers are drinking... Wink

The scheduling was even worse when the late night repeat was usually unedited 35-45 minute version & there was no room in the BBC4 schedule for the late showing on the same night. Therefore the Pops wouldn't get it's first and often only unedited repeat until Saturday night/Sunday morning, but I suppose with Pops episodes being 30 minutes in duration from '85 onwards, thankfully that scenario's passed.

In the words of Yoda "confused you will be", but just don't get me started on the hour/half hour rigid BBC4 primetime stuff again which blighted the earlier Pops repeats.

...And World News Today/28 days later (or whatever it's called these days) even existing on BBC4 (when it's already on the News Channel), forcing the Pops to be edited in the first place.

I'm not sure I've mentioned my annoyance with it before Laughing

"Nobody can understand what he's singing about so we may as well do the charts"- how rude from Gary Davies there!

Thank god there was only one more chart rundown over a video after this one (and we won't be seeing it on BBC4 anyway).

They were driven to drugs just to forget that they ever made it.

The picture they use for the background of the chart countdown during the video is a bit strange too, it looks like it's a concept sketch for the titles.
