I suspect it would have been higher if it wasn't for the panic travel and shopping on Saturday night. Must say though it was a great time to do your Christmas supermarket shop.

I can remember a time when town centres were deserted on the afternoon of the FA Cup Final. And if there were any people they were stood outside TV rental shops watching the match

They don't release the final vote percentages, and I think rightly so - you don't achieve anything from saying how well, or indeed how badly, the couples have performed. It's a nice programme where the taking part is more important than winning.

They don't even release 2nd to 4th place. Is wrong IMO and the justification that it'll basically upset the lovers is pathetic. SPOTY released full voting figures for years and IMO it should be standard for all voting competitions to be transparent. ITV usually release percentages for all votes though notably only released info for the final of I'm a Celebrity this year.

I'm afraid I have to agree with Brekkie here. Embarassed

I've said this before, but on the subject of SPOTY abandoning the practice of releasing *its* voting figures, the conspiracy theorist in me can't help but wonder how much this was influenced by Anthony Joshua missing out on the top three in 2017 by just eighteen votes, having been the bookies' favourite that year (and the inevitable tabloid hullabaloo that followed).

The official reason, of course, was to bring SPOTY in line with Strictly. Yes, I'm going to post that picture of Jean-Luc Picard again...

We'll probably never know, for instance, just how great Ben Stokes' winning margin was in 2019, or how many people voted for Tyson Fury this year even though he made it clear he wanted nothing to do with the event.
