The only indication the show continued after Ant and Dec left were on the astons for H and Claire.

It was implied the show continued as they all talked about Ant and Dec leaving and Cat not getting to see her mates every week.

The biggest feeling I have about this morning is feeling like I was taken back 20 years, not just to my childhood but a really fun show. I now feel cheated it's not on next Saturday morning. I wonder if they will ever do a live reunion show or whether things are best left in the past.

It’s funny the things that come back to you..

A remastered version of the titles (as featured in today's show I presume) by Atom Pictures:

Watching this I recalled how much the delay in “TV” appearing used to wind me up as more often than not the vision mixer wouldn’t hang around and would cut to the studio, meaning it looked like the show was called SM: Live. They fixed it in the 2001 re-edit of the titles. I worry about things like bills and job security these days...

Whilst I’m at it. Can somebody document to me what happened with Shavaughn Ruakere?

She seemed to disappear a few weeks before SMTV Gold kicked in (She was in the final programme)

Someone will be able to confirm but wasn't the final programme in Dec 2003 pre-recorded weeks in advance and was split so Ant/Dec/Cat and few presenters always seemed together and others where in different sections - quite disjointed.

Shavaughn had a lot of background in Kids TV in New Zealand in a similar show called What Now. She's done a lot of acting back in NZ including a few years in their main soap Shortland Street. She had 1/2 fantastic storylines.

I found it funny that the content in the early months included “10 seconds of dogs”

The different music used in and out of the breaks was noted

Of course loads was missed out, or could have been discussed more in depth, but it was only a 75 minute programme. Interesting that they got the execs on talking about what went on behind the scenes. That David Liddiment is never off the TV on stuff like this, and he’s fresh from being portrayed in Quiz

Ahead of its time - probably end up stumbling across a few minutes of dogs most days now.
DE88, james-2001 and mediaman2007 gave kudos

Well, not WEEKS in advance, I think it was recorded in the week between the 13th and 20th December editions, presumably due to Ant & Dec's schedules, with both Pop and World Idol going out that month and that was the only time they were available. Was indeed disjointed though- not least because for some reason the Eminemmerdale sketch they recorded was cut out and replaced with a Spongebob episode at the last minute , after already having been promoted and clips from it appeared in the trailer (though they did leave in a couple of mentions of it). And yes, Ant/Dec/Cat and Brian/Tess/Des/Shavaughn did their bits separately, and the two groups only appeared together to sing My Way at the very end.

Mediaman2007 has told us they were at the recording, so they'll be able to tell us exactly what it was like and when it actually was.

Yeah recorded Monday 8th December. Tess, Brian and co in the morning, Ant Dec Cat in the afternoon. They'd rehearse each sketch first then record it in front of the audience. Riverside was a strange studio to me, I felt little atmosphere compared to TLS. In fact early SMTV may have fitted in well at Riverside.

Yeah recorded Monday 8th December.

A week earlier than I'd assumed, then!

Must have seemed strange for the crew (and Des) to have recorded a final episode, but then still have two regular episodes left to make after it.

Yeah I didn't make it to the last live show sadly. I think I remember there being no director credit on it so Conor McAnally may have directed it as he did on a few occasions before.

Am I right in remembering that some episodes of SMTV in 2003 were broadcast as late as 3pm due to morning coverage of either the F1 or Rugby World Cup?
