Well it's Hogmany and SMG are opting out in true style .

9 pm - Another chance to see The Steamie . It's Hogmany 1953 in Glasgow and a group of women try to finish their washing at the steamie before the bells .

10.30 - Making Tracks -Top Scottish music stars reveal the stories behind the making of famous singles.

11.00 - ITV News.

11.10 - A Capital New Year 2004 Live from Edinburgh with Alison Craig and Bryan Burnett .

12.15 - Hebs Live and Loud - Highlights from last years Live and Loud concert at Hampden Park in Glasgow.

Above to go out on Border Scotland also.

UTV are doing their own thing too at 11.10 Gerry Kelly Show .

Not sure about ITV 1 Wales if they are doing their own thing or not ?.

Makes a change for 'A Capital New Year' to be live, it used to be recorded well in advance and it also lacked the atmosphere that Hogmanay Live had on BBC Scotland.

Talking of live Hogmanay shows, did anyone see the clips from the Gleneagles disaster, used in that Anne Robinson bloopers show over Christmas? Poor old John Grieve and Chick Murray not looking their best.....the Police Pipe Band marching into the room en masse and having nowhere to go.....Anne Somers' directing career evaporating before her eyes!!

I remember so clearly watching that show fall to bits. BBC Scotland was never allowed to do a live Hogmanay show for network BBC1 after that.

I've long since lost my VHS of that show. Does anyone else have one?

STV must have a clean feed from the network tonight for the opt out.
The announcer has just voiced over the Emmergale end credits they used to do this all the time before ITV 1introduced network announcers .

Do England generally show the Hogmanay programming on BBC1?

I thought that programming used to be exclusive to Scotland and everyone else got Jonathan Ross or someone doing a recorded New Year's Eve look back at the past year?

Do you realise that what you have just said would mean the physical removal of the last 23 hours and 18 minutes?
The last time I checked - it was pretty difficult to cancel days.

Well it is LIVE this year without a doubt . Alison Craig and Brian Burnett are in a very rainy and windy Edinburgh and the concert and street party have been cancelled and their are to be NO fireworks due to the gale force winds and rain .What a bummer for all concerned .Erasure are singing in a studio with a back drop of the castle and the presenters are well padding and waffling .

Oh dear - no contingency planned on SMG stations other than a yearly reminici-package.

Watch BBC Scotland for my old flatmate Craig Hill who will doubtless be asked to turn a 5 minute set into a 20 just after the bells. Must set the vcr.
