One of the BBC's international channels is getting a new look from tomorrow. Australia's BBC UKTV channel (sounds odd for us Brits) will have a new logo and on screen presentation.

Old on the left, new on the right and a couple of (I assume) test logos during design - one of those looking very familiar!

Some pics from the YouTube showreel...no idents as yet.

That BBC UKTV logo on the bottom left kind of looks like the 2003 BBC THREE logo.

EDIT: I suppose thats one of the logos that looked familiar I guess? Rolling Eyes

Logo doesn't look great in a box but works on the trailer boards where it isn't confined.

Here's a way the BBC can save money. Use the same pres on BBC One, BBC America, BBC Canada, and this BBC UKTV channel. Will be interesting to see those new BBC UKTV idents, and if they'd be compatible with BBC One.

BBC America already tried using the BBC One 2006 (in 2009) package, they dumped it. You're forgetting that they each have their own creative departments (and it's Worldwide not BBC UK)

It doesn't suit it tbh.

Uh, when I said BBC UKTV, I meant the BBC UKTV channel that this thread is about, not BBC Worldwide!

And doesn't BBC America change it's pres more often than the BBC in the UK anyway? They used the balloons as well.

Yes - but my point was that BBC Worldwide creative is separate from UK, therefore are likely to do their own thing, respective to their region.

BBC Worldwide is responsible for output outside of the UK and outside of the TV Licence so I would think BBC UKTV comes under BBC Worldwide.

BBC Worldwide is just one of the companies within BBC Commercial Holdings Ltd responsible for (amongst other things) output. Global News, for example, is a separate entity. There are a few other companies held by Commercial Holdings including BBC Store and BBC Studioworks. The holding company for Worldwide and Studioworks is BBC Ventures Group Ltd.

I imagine BBC Worldwide Australia operates completely separately from domestic BBC so agree with dbl that it's probably unrealistic to expect creative sharing. The sharing of content between Global News and domestic News is perhaps why the former is kept separate from the other commercial entities.
