In addition, they also need to improvise a completely new schedule with, in C4's case, less than 24 hours' notice.

A test match finishing early is hardly unforeseeable circumstances, surely a contingency schedule would have been organised in advance rather than at the last minute?

There is an alternative schedule in the Radio Times for Saturday and Sunday in place of the cricket ending early, but I doubt many people were expecting a five-day test to end after a day and a half.

The general point is that, especially in the current climate, all channels have enough of a job trying to fill gaps in the schedules that are already there, let alone compiling even more schedules they might not even need to use. So often scheduling isn't about choosing from an avalanche of programmes, it's about navigating from breakfast to bedtime as cost-effectively as possible.

Find It, Fix It, Flog It seems somewhat of an appropriate replacement for Steph's Packed Lunch.

They normally last at least three days though. It's not normal to see so many wickets so fast.

A cricket ident into Gogglebox (a 4 on a rotating cricket ball with a crowd in the background). Not been up early enough to see if they've used it for the live coverage.

A new cricket ident aired into Gogglebox, a spinning cricket ball with the Channel 4 logo on. CA acknowledged it too.
