Interesting to note that because of this, Sunday Brunch is moving to E4 this week.

Is this the first time? Pretty sure in the past when it’s been displaced from C4 (F1 coverage I believe?) it ended up on More4. Which does seem a more natural temporary home.

Last time it was moved from Channel 4 it was on More 4 and ironically it was for Live Cricket in the 2019 Cricket World Cup Final which Sky Sports and Channel 4 simulcast. The other rare times since 2012 it has been displaced it has been on More 4 for sports coverage such as Paralympics or Formula 1 when they had the 10 races live from 2015-2018 so this will be the first time on E4.

At least this time round C4 viewers won’t have to switch to Film4 to continue watching the cricket due to Channel 4 Racing coverage!

Lots of viewers happy to hear Mambo Number 5 this morning.

Nice nod to the last time C4 hosted Test Cricket - look closely in the gallery shot on this Tweet...

Watching this now, do we think that Channel 4 will get the rights for the T20I and the ODI matches now

Pity they didn't use it for the bumpers for the longer ad breaks during the lunch interval though..

It is supposedly all but a done deal but Star Sports are a law to themselves. Their sales strategy seems to be to root in the bush rather than look what is in their hand.

P.S. Graphics are very nice. The timings meant no ads during the first session at all and not a huge amount in later sessions as well.

Very unusual to see almost unanimous praise in this day and age but C4's coverage has been very well received, even if it is riding a bit on the nostalgia of 2005 at least.

A good podcast here with the last 15 minutes on the move to C4 back in 1999 through to 2005, but the whole thing may be of interest focusing on how cricket has evolved on TV over the decades.

I think the graphics are quite ugly and dated actually and something Sky might have had a better version of a decade or so ago. However I do like that they hark back to the colour scheme of old Channel 4 graphics, which will be purely coincidental of course. Also I wonder if the colours of the studio are a nod to that look too.

I do think there is something quite retro about them but it seems apt. I've said before I think often too much info is displayed on screen when it comes to cricket but in this case I thought the info was quite clear, even if unnecessary, rather than confusing.

The host graphics feel like a direct descendant of Sky News in 1996.
