It was good to see "ITV1 for Central England" appear before a national ITV1 programme tonight! Very Happy

They should do this much more often I reckon!

There was a regional Yorkshire ident as well. I expect these regional idents were already in the system for the usual regional 7.30 slot, so they played them out albeit with a new announcement.

Indeed and a regional announcement before the news flagging up the 11pm regional programme. Good to see they are actually telling viewers where the regional programmes are moving and not just forgetting about them. Its also good to see the slots arn't just being lost and carried over to next week. Notice that tonight's 7.30pm programme is on a week on Monday at 8pm, that's actually Bank Holiday Monday!

Oh and about where the match was supposed to be shown, it was originally nowhere, then it was on ITV2, but then changed to ITV1. Digiguide actually altered ITV2's schedule from the billed schedule to the football schedule about 5 days ago and then back to the billed schedule a few days ago!

The match tonight was originally supposed to be shown on ITV2. But what I would like to know is since when has ITV had the rights to the UEFA Cup, I always thought that was only on BBC2 or Five, or do they buy it on a match basis rather than a season, like the Champions League.

UEFA Cup games are sold on a match to match basis, meaning all channels can bid for them and hence the late change to the schedule. Also this year UEFA have messed up the UEFA Cup schedule so a one round follows one week after the previous - so that's why there has been alot of late changes this year.

Nice to see ITV treating the game with respect and putting it on the main channel, and nice to see Gabby hosting (get used to it - she replaces Des on the Champions League next season!). I guess with money saved from the loss of the Premiership contract ITV Sport may bid for UEFA cup games for ITV2 next season.

Also, watching the match on ITV2 last week as Celtic played on BBC3 saw a huge gulf between the two channels. While ITV2 had Gabby hosting, Andy Townsend analysing and it's regular commentary team, BBC3 had... well I couldn't actually tell you as I didn't recognise any of them!
