I don't know why so many of you phone the Duty Office at all. They certainly have no authority to tell you about presentation changes or new idents when typically this information is made in press releases.
Hmmm, that comment from Mike, basically saying that they will be ending soon has got me thinking that they may be holding back to introduce new idents/changes in any form for the launch of ITV3 in November, maybe I'm wrong, but who knows!
Between September and whenever I think that they should bring back some of the generic idents from Oct 2002 - August 2003, and use them as main idents as fill ins.
Though sticking with the celebs does mean that new programmes won't have any visual effect, as it were. They can use Ant & Dec's, and maybe even the Simon Cowell one, but then they haven't got one Parkie, or Sharron Osbourne and Louis Walsh, then the endless new stars starring in ITV dramas.
It's a horrible idea to keep up with, but I do like the idea of the show's being referred to, or the stars in some form.
Perhaps for many it's just because of the fact they don't involve anything else. Perhaps if they had post production where by the celebrities would play, watch and interact with four bouncing, dancing, animating cubes that then form the itv1 logo in many forms, rather than just walk to camera, look, have a chat, look away.
Though the 2003 set are better than the 2002 set.

I completely agree with that.
I think the potential behind the ITV1 idents is great, but they are implemented poorly. The 2003 set is better than 2002, and I think they need to build up on the celebrity idents and make them stronger - it can be done. For instance, why not choose blue as the predominant colour and play out with it? I know I keep banging on about Seven Network Australia, but that's the way they should go with their identification in my opinion.
There's no Parky ident yet - does this mean it's too early to use it (while they're doing their teaser people-singing-the-theme-tune ads) or does it mean they haven't shot one? Because if they haven't shot one, that pretty much means they're intending to drop the celebs in the new season...
Ive seen 2 idents last night, I havent seen before. A Gabby Logan, with a shot from the air, looking down in that ident, and a Robson Green one I havnt seen before. Its probably because ITV hardly plays the long ones!
I have only seen one ITV1 Drama trailer on Tuesday and I watch ITV1 most of the time!!! It ended with a black screen saying the new season or something with the ITV1 logo.
