Hmm  sounds similar to my mocks    we shall have to wait and see

Is this really YOUR mock Mdta? I'm not one to start throwing accusations around, but as far as I can see, it's the graphics from the promo used in August to explain the ITV1 name change.

I'm more than happy to be proved wrong - maybe someone can provide a vidcap of said promo for comparison purposes?

ARGH, that is a mock BASED on the ITV promos, there is more than just concept envolved in creating a mock!

I like the purple endcaps in concept but wish they had incorporated colour into the logos. I know it doesn't matter to GMG North because they all have monocoloured logos anyway but what about the southern stations? Anglia and Meridian both have multicoloured logos. Meridian's doesn't look so great in a single colour and Anglias will be ruined without the blue white and yellow in there.

And it's a bit inconsistant. After constantly telling us that Granada/G is a television production company but GR/N/D/ isn't, they then loose the names outside of ITV and make programmes like 'The Wright Stuff' on C5 stop being an Anglia production (well actually it was still a united production until recently) and it's now a GR/N/D/ production - something we were told couldn't happen.

Border of course doesn't have a purple endcap at all. Instead it got a new ident still endcap. Perhaps because it's logoless?

Well according to a post under the DFS Adverts thread, Channel Television is going to be recieving a clean feed soon free of Meridian and its adverts. I think this adds more proof that this generic ITV1 is really coming, even to viewers in the South and East wheather you like it or not. I think we all thought this would happen but not as soon as this. I really feel for Meridian and Anglia viewers, Southampton gives your viewers a hell of a lot more independance than Leeds does and you are going to get one hell of a shock

yea that mock is mine...

i have made an updated version, same but i moved the logo down changed to hearts music, and made the dots 'n dashes bigger...

All the things craig said were different in my mock to the one he saw...

the new version will be on identz soon, if anyone has the webspace, i can send the swf file to them, and they can post a link in this thread...

Well, I had to sit through a few programmes tonight on ITV (with relations so bloomin' Emmerdale, Corrie and Millionaire were on... yawn!) And I did notice that the region's name was mentioned on every link still (as it usually is when the young female announcer is on duty).

This is crazy!!! If the regional name is still to be mentioned what is the point of having itv1 stuck on the screen ffs!?!?!?

'You're watching Tyne Tees. Forget what you see on your screens, that's only there because we're too cheap to make individual identities for our stations.'

I always thought that when the totally generic ITV1 finally came, it would be at a time when all stations were owned by one company. It seems stupid for just Granada to go generic and Carlton not to (or, as it seems might just happen, become LESS generic and end the idea of having 3 Carltons). It will look doubly stupid in London. ATM having Carlton ITV1 and LWT ITV1 works reasonably well, but having Carlton ITV1 and ITV1 (both varying wildly in the technical quality of the idents - but then that's the case now, LWT haven't had a decent ident since 1999) will just be ridiculous.

I can't believe Granada are going to do this. And if they do, I don't think it'll last long. I know that the generic ITV1 seemingly is unstoppable but this is way too early. ITV isn't consolidated enough yet for it to happen.

sometime next year, Carlton and Granada will merge, perhaps having the Carlton regions left out of the re-branding, is purely a technical or financial decision

I am pretty sure there are still barriers to this happening!!

I wouldn't expect the two to merge for a couple of years yet.

Those barriers are being removed, and it is highly likely that the two will merge, however it is not confirmed and will probably not happen for a while.

It was said that the GMG logo would not apear on Granada (region) idents as a new station logo as they are two seperate things, however it could appear as it looks likely to on all GMG owned stations just like UMN logo appeared on production caps of their regions. Its quite simple really!

Seeing as these new endcaps are in a 'glass' style the colour could be added to the logos by having rays of coloured light shone through aswell as this there could be lots of coloured lights in the background making the ident a lot better.
