So true - other than cutting down from 4 to 3 and bringing in Piers despite it's annual tweaks it has essentially been the same show for nearly 7 years. Considering in the 7 years before that you basically had 3 versions of Daybreak and IIRC at least two variations of GMTV.

GMB ultimately shares a lot with what the original version of Daybreak was trying to do but ultimately wasn't allowed to develop.

ITV
0600-0900 1.0m/28.5% - GMB
0900-1000 1.2m/23.8% - Lorraine
1000-1230 1.3m/25.6% - This Morning

1330-1355 1.1m/16.1% - ITV Lunchtime News

The One O'Clock News and BBC Regional News are ratings juggernauts.

Also I think Morning Live has been ahead of Lorraine for pretty much every show. Not bad for a new show, though it inherits a higher audience than Lorraine.

Breakfast has definitely dipped a bit over the last year, and GMB has improved its numbers.

Well done to ITV for narrowing the gap further and allowing the programme to evolve, but I must say I really don't get the appeal at all these days, is it essentially trying to be talk radio but on the TV now?

I tuned in yesterday at around 6:30 to see what all the fuss was about that desk and all I learnt was Piers' views on the Sussexes. I understand they used to have the "golden 10 minutes" or whatever but this went on for most of the half hour I watched and consisted of Piers and Susanna almost arguing with each other, but both looking straight at the camera whilst seemingly talking to each other, just bizarre.

I'd be interested to know how GMB rated against breakfast in the 6:00-6:30 programme. It's a very good mix of everything presented in a variety of different ways and is by far the highlight of the programme for me.

Morning Live's ratings is interesting to see, it pretty much hit the ground running since it launched in October.

What Breakfast has over GMB is consistency, it is a safe programme but you can tune in and know what you're getting and that's the same whether it's with Dan and Louise or Charlie and Naga, you can't say the same for GMB.

Sorry if I’m being thick, but how come they look so close on this...

But in reality they’re far apart...

Alas, the days of GMB only wasting the first ten minutes of the show on Piers' tiresome ranting are long gone. There seems to be no real running order any more. You'd be forgiven for thinking that they just wait until Piers turns up in a morning and say to him 'what do you fancy doing today, then?'

Outside the 'working from home' factor, I am pretty baffled by the show's recent steady increase in ratings; GMB seems to be gaining viewers at the same rate that I'm gaining in frustration with what I consider to be its decline in quality and professionalism.

Evidently, my view on the show is against the grain of many who seem to relish this combative, obnoxious, tabloid display first thing in a morning. I personally can't think of a much worse start to the day.

Bargain Hunt is a bit of a monster as well.

Camera trickery - there is a faded join down the centre of the screen.

Have a closer look at the tower of St Pauls. You can see the 'off join' running down the centre of it.

And on the desk there is a ghost of a water glass.
