I totally agree. Maybe I’ve forgotten over the years or maybe I did not hear of it at the time, but before today I wouldn’t have associated her with anything other than the actress who played Bianca, and her appearance on the masked singer. It was unnecessary. If they needed a strap, surely ‘Patsy Palmer: From East End to West Coast’ would have sufficed.

I doubt it was done with any malice, if anything whoever wrote it probably thought it was an empowering story and to be fair her own book was subtitled ‘love, life and addiction’, so you can kind of understand why someone thought she wouldn’t have a major issue with that.
As for not wanting to talk about Harry and Megan, and I’m sure she speaks for many people who aren’t bothered about it, but isn’t it part of the unwritten deal with these interviews you have to talk about what they want to talk about, as well as the thing they want to promote? It was a stupid question though, as interest in California in Bianca from EastEnders is considerably less than the British royal family.
The more I think about it, the most I cannot fathom why they thought it would be appropriate. Good on Patsy for calling them out.

Are we placing bets yet on when the show will be ditched? ITV execs must be holding emergency meetings and desperately trying to make plans for yet another new breakfast show.
The Patsy incident has to be the straw breaking the camel’s back. What we witnessed there was a celeb having the confidence to call out something that embarrassed her. I can guarantee this wouldn’t have happened had the Piers Morgan debacle not taken place days earlier. The show is now caught in a spiral. Viewers, social media users and guests will feel empowered to call out nonsense and the criticism will peak, followed by a general ‘is that show still a thing?’ attitude. All in all, it’s badly damaged goods and needs to go.
So, what should they do next? My personal view
is that it’s time for ITV to embrace one of two options:
Option 1 - Extend This Morning to include breakfast, with News opts from ITV News.
Option 2 - Go down a complete News format route. If it’s good enough for the BBC, just copy it.

The idea that ITV are in crisis talks, scrambling to scrap Good Morning Britain completely to devise a new show from scratch off the back of Piers' exit is, I'm afraid to say, lunacy.
One (unprofessional, boorish oaf of a) presenter has left. One , of many, many presenters who make up the show's on air team.
Don't be drawn in by all this rubbish you read about ratings online. You'll see comparisons of the ratings for the ten minutes immediately after Piers stormed out of the studio on his last day when everyone turned to ITV temporarily just to see what was going on, with the ratings for the first five minutes of the show at 6am on an uneventful subsequent morning, and these figures will be placed side by side with no context as "evidence" that the show has lost hundreds of thousands of viewers, but it's all a load of (deliberately) misleading nonsense.
Half of the people I've spoken to have said that they loved Piers and will now be less likely to watch the show in his absence, and the other half have said they actively used to avoid GMB when Piers was on air and now feel able to give the show another go. It balances out.
At the end of the day, they launched without Piers and did perfectly well without him for a year and a half. They'll be perfectly fine without him now.

"You can trash me, mate, but not on my own show."
That's very telling of his attitude, and frankly a massive insult to the many other people who work on the programme (and had done for over a year longer than him in many cases, no less!)
Piers felt GMB was "his show" - he said so I believe when the stormed off the set. That was a problem, him thinking it was The Piers Morgan Breakfast Show.

The so called ratings slump is just GMB going back to its normal numbers, it was obvious that the interview and the fallout would boost GMB but it wasn't sustainable. I'm sure the other ITV daytime shows has gone back to their normal numbers as well.
There is no way that This Morning turns into a 5 and a half hour programme, it's just insanity. It's more likely they'll stick with the GMB brand.
