I (inexpertly) imagine it would have been his own decision to arrive this week. Surely the BBC would have wanted as much variety of pundits these two weeks when they've been busiest?

If you want to hear whether Phil Neville's commentary has improved since Saturday 90 minutes of it has just started on BBC Two.

No clock as of I'm not sure how many seconds into the second half of Cameroon vs Croatia.

It appeared 1:15 into the half.

Jeez. Give it all to the BBC, no clock for 1:15 on ITV!

41 minutes into last night's England match, Mrs Markymark said to me; 'are we watching this on BBC or ITV ? . I've just mentioned that to a colleague of mine, and she had her asked her husband the same question.

So don't assume the great viewing public pay attention (or even notice) to the degree you might think they do, on screen clutter and branding. YMMV

Last weekend Mrs uknews to be, on seeing the game that was being played was on ITV said 'but it's on the wrong channel' Smile

I then had to tell her the next two England games were on 'the wrong channel'.

Well they didn't win the repeat showing on the BBC did they.

Think I much prefer ITV's coverage this year, down to titles, graphics, idents, as well the Fever Pitch thing.

Well, not really because generally in tournaments those still active in the game go home before the end due to pre-season training, so they'll have far fewer about towards the end. Especially as this tournament is so far away it's probably likely that few people will be there for the whole thing because they don't want to spend so long away from their families.

Most people working on it will be there for the duration. Spending time away from home / family is part of the job. You wouldn't take the work if you weren't able to spend a month away from home.

Yes, I've got colleagues out there who are there for 7 solid weeks

In 2010 Harry Redknapp and Roy Hodgson only arrived at this point for the BBC.

Some definitely are there for the whole thing but the departure for many is staggered. I know some working for the BBC Sport website who are there until England are out and some are leaving at the end of the month.
