Ah. Doris Schwartz. The the awesome Mrs. Berg. My favourite Fame characters ever.

Glee: used to love it. Now can't stand it. ( apart from Sue Sylvester, who excels all the time.)

Ah. Doris Schwartz.

I had a lovely email conversation with Valerie Landsburg a couple of years ago. You should search for her online, she's producing some nice music.

How is Glee going to cope when the leading actors all get too old to play their parts, or their characters have been in the final year of high school for 3+ years?

Some of the actors are pushing 30 already aren't they?

As I understand it from interviews, the current cast are being phased out during the (next) third season, which I believe will see the show's demo share decrease significantly. It's an interesting idea for a series and it's done brilliantly for Fox, but it was never a show that could succeed long-term.

They've kind of denied that though recently and said they were misunderstood in those interviews.

Just popped into Valeries site. Nice extract of her track Never, Never. Lovely voice.

Glee: will Lea really be the next Streisand? I for one hope so. I think she has an awesome voice, but she is totally out of place on that show. Other than Janet Jackson, none of the Fame kids ever went on to be mega stars, IIRC. Possibly because they were typecast. Same will become of the Glee kids I guess. Harry Schum and Heather Morris are awesome dancers. Could you try and get them on The Hour when you take over? Make sure that Harry bares the abs. It's just what Pacific Quay needs of a hot summer.

E4 probably wise to ditch Glee. Does anyone else have the same feeling that the writing is on the wall, as far as ratings and prolonged success is concerned?

Fame (the TV series) went through exactly the same thing. New cast came in, and some of the teachers changed too.

Although it was a brilliant, brilliant show (and one of the reasons I went off to drama school) It went off the boil after the original students left the show and dwindled to nothing and was cancelled.

The original cast did a nationwide tour of the UK (for some reason they was bigger than Jesus in Britain, more so than the States). You would have thought the Beatles were performing. They filled Wembley and other arenas.

I think they stopped at season 6(?).

Yep - the original "Kids from Fame" were great - but when they started losing the original cast members it kind of lost its way. It was definitely bigger in the UK (and Israel ?) than it was in the US I think - bit like Baywatch...

For me it was one of the few TV series spun out of a movie where I preferred the TV show. (Particuarly because Valerie Landsberg was in the TV series and not the film!)

And Erica Gimpell was much more likeable than Irene Cara.

I'm *sorry* Irene, it's the truth.

There, I said it.

Perhaps the aim is to get this on Sky Atlantic and pressure Virgin in to agreeing carriage?

I'd assume it is destined for Sky1 - doesn't really fit the quality threshold of Sky Atlantic, and isn't quite female enough or old enough for Living.

It'll most definitely be Sky1 to pull in subscribers who rely on Freeview normally for Glee

I'd have thought so too... but £500,000/episode surely means they're expecting revenue from more than just advertising revenue and picking up a few subscribers LOST-style...

The problem I have with this is, I just don't think it's the sort of show that would drive subscriptions. It's not really the right market.

My take is that it's planned to go to Sky Atlantic, to try and get more to watch what's not been a successful launch. BSB can use it as 'exclusive' too then.
