What things would those be?
Timecop and Madryn Undead and it has been metioned on other sci-fi shows before. I am not making this up.

They spoke about it on Doctor Who Confidential last night, not sure who came up with this idea though.

This weeks episode has proved (to me at least) that if time travel were actually possible to do in real life, it would be
made illegal. Not just because of the possible negative consequences of going back in time and changing history,
but the fact that many people would attempt to abuse it for their own personal (and totally unethical) gain.

Yeh... this episode reminded me a lot of Crime Traveller... which covered the same idea of changing the past with the Doctor being Holly Turner and Rose being Jeff Slade... and it's possibly one of the most realistic episodes of Doctor Who in this series (As far as time travel can be realistic!)

Very good episode... Second in the series to bring a tear to my eye (with the first being Darlek)

I know it's early, but is there any BBC v ITV ratings news?

Celebrity Wrestling is still taking a pounding...

Outpost Gallifrey posted:
Father's Day has scored big... 7,471,900 viewers according to the overnights, with an impressive 42.74% of the audience share for the episode. The ITV installment of "Celebrity Wrestling" had only 2.3 million viewers with a 14.2% ratings share. It's an enormous win for "Doctor Who" as the viewers stay equal but the audience percentages get larger. More details soon... (Thanks to Neal Douglas, Nev Fountain)

But Rose would've been a baby at the time her father was originally killed.

You have sort of missed the point. Rose (the older one) should have originaly killed her fater and after saving him would have to go back and do it again as she is not aware at the time that she killed him.
There is your Paradox!

Another good episode which Russell T Davies had nothing to do with. Just one glaring flaw. What on earth did the doctor think rose was going to do when he took her back to the moment of her father's death? Of course she was going to save him, and he would have known that's what she would try to do. Also the Doctor seems to have a lot more control of the TARDIS than he used to. I thought in the past the TARDIS went wherever it wanted to.

I get so fed up with this RTD bashing. He has overseen the whole story arc, decided which story goes where and what it's broadly about and generally worked very hard to produce an excellent quality series. I'm fed up of hearing 'oh well, all the non-RTD episodes are sooo much better'

I suspect that without his attention to detail and drama in the first place (and that's not to downplay the wonderful work put in by talented producers, directors, crew and actors) that Doctor Who may not have been the success it is now.

Over the years, the Doctor has regained more control of the TARDIS (even in Tom Baker's day, he could often take it where he wanted to).

That said, 'The Unquiet Dead' shows that he doesn't always have quite the full control he'd like.

With the best will in the world I found this week's episode wanting.

Ecclestone just doesn't work for me. It's not the lines, it's the way he delivers them. One minute a dopey grin on his face, the next he's shouting; but there's not an iota of emotional truth in any of it. I don't get a sense of who Who is, if you'll pardon the expression.

Billy Piper has been consistently good, albeit rung out like a damp rag with endless weepy scenes in this episode. They could have run several of those scenes together rather than dropping the energy and tension by going back to her talking to her father time and time again. I mean, just how big was that church that each time she was sitting somewhere else on her own ready to have a bubble?

A glaring error at the end when her father was struck by the car. Those bugs (feeding on the torn fabric of time) disappeared when he was hit by the car, yet he wasn't dead until Rose had joined him for yet another lingering look.

I'm thrilled that the programme is back. I'm happy with the obviously high production values and its placement in the schedules.

Ecclestone leaving can't come fast enough for me, though.

I'm afraid you are completely wrong on that one.

Russell conceived the entire season, wrote the outline for each story, commissioned the scripts and had complete control over every word that went into the series. As an executive producer he was one of the three people who have worked their guts out on every aspect of the programme and without Russell there would, quite simply, be no series.

You should be down on your knees worshiping the man rather than making snide remarks about stuff you obviously know nothing about.

Can I have your babies, Marcus?

You've said everything I wanted to say to people here and on other forums who are constantly knocking Russell.

Thank you.

Not long till the big finale

Anyone else now feeling that Dr Who is indeed the answer to Sat night schedule problem? Averaging 7million viewers per week has to be a success in anyone's book, especially in today's multichannel world.

Am expecting withdrawal symptoms this summer.... Call for old repeats on BBC2 anyone??
