Now 70's song titles are TINY for some reason compared to how they are on 80s/90s. Given the small font and low bit rate of the channel, at times the titles are plain unreadable. Surprised it hasn't been noticed and corrected yet.

Poor choice of font to use and colour too IMO. I definitely would've kept all text white like they do with 80s & 90s. How is it that 80s' GFX set look a lot cleaner than the other two though.

I'm not sure it's been mentioned, but TracePlay is a thing now, available on Roku boxes. I was made aware by a slide on the Roku screensaver promising free Kenan & Kel.

The app demands you sign up online first, and when you do so you're told to pay, but in actual fact you don't appear to need to if all you want to do is stream Trace Vault and Trace Xmas. In any case, using promo code THANKYOU gives you a month free trial.

As a Freesat viewer I've not seen The Vault in over a year now, but it feels very much the same as it did. The 'my career in music' segments are clearly done from home now, not sure if that's a budget or a COVID thing but either way they get away with it.

Trace Xmas is weird, seems to be showing mostly American Christmas songs which I've never heard of. It'll be interesting to see if this moves to more or less the same format Christmas Starz had.

Having kept up with this thread, it feels very much like things have not gone to plan for Trace, and I wonder if The Vault will end up changing hands again soon. Given they clearly moved to their own playout and mostly scrapped all the brands they bought, I wonder why they didn't just launch a couple of channels? Hard to see how they thought Chart Show's viewers would convert in to Trace Urban/Trace Latina viewers, there's little to no crossover.

As for Kenan & Kel, the ad which lured me in... well apparently the only way to see this is on the Trace Vault live stream, but as there is no EPG (not even a Now & Next!) there is no way of knowing from the app when it's on. Poor show.

Trace have launched another survey, this time focusing on their music channels.

There's a reference to "Trace Hits". Not sure if there's any significance in that, in terms of a potential future channel/brand name.

Have also noticed that the Starz TV twitter account is now Trace Xmas (after Trace Urban UK became Trace UK).

Seems that survey gave some answers...

Trace Hits is launching on 5th January when Trace Xmas is rebranded (Instead of returning to Trace Urban).

It also confirms the death of Sky Cinema Disney and also Discovery Shed and Home and Health

I would love to know if Trace Urban is also going to be renamed in other countries....plus I presume that Sky Cinema Disney will close for Disney+ and I bet they are closing Discovery Shed and Home & Health purely due to the ad revenue that went down due to the coronavirus recession

Probably won't be renamed in most of the countries they air in as it was originally made for black audiences (not to sound racist or anything).
It seemed that way when they launched in the UK.
Most of their channels in France and Africa do cater to those audiences and play genres of music in Africa on the Africa-exclusive channels.

The obvious problem was they badly misjudged the UK market when they launched and just did the same thing they did elsewhere. Mistakes others have made (i.e. Bunnings).

Can't say I'm surprised by the closure of Discovery Shed/Home & Health given the low LCN numbers and minuscule amount of viewers. Shed's most watched show only gained 16,900 viewers and Home & Health's even lower. I actually predicted it in the TV Predictions 2021 thread.

Does Discovery History actually air any first-run shows at all or is wall to wall of old repeats? Discovery History can't be doing any better than these two channels ratings wise? Where did you get viewing figures for Discovery Shed?

Probably not, but Discovery History at least shows something different compared to the lowbrow of other Discovery channels, these days
