Over the last few days I have been home, I have been watching on YouTube the fantastic spy drama Callan from ITV 1967-72 starring Edward Woodward - past many great hours, Edward was excellent in it.
Raffles, Crown Court, Upstairs Downstairs, Sapphire and Steel, Some Mothers Do Ave Em and Morecambe and Wise have been a fantastic tonic to me over the last week.
Corrie and Emmerdale to lose an episode a week ...
New (but expected): ITV drops an episode a week of Coronation Street and Emmerdale to keep more in stock in case filming stops. If it does ITV has enough “until early summer”. Then the riots start.....

I doubt that will help them for long. Even the most optimistic scenarios don't show a return to 'normality' until much later in the year, and even then they have a lead time for getting new episodes in the can.
We could all hope for a lovely hot summer, where people could go out instead of sitting watching soaps/sport etc - but of course that probably still won't be the best idea.

With Corrie they could have up to 12 weeks in the can (or possibly 16 weeks if they film 8 weeks ahead) if they are showing 3 a week. Im surprised Emmerdale is not being cut to 3 also. I guess they want to avoid disruption to the 7pm-8pm hour if possible. The 4 episodes of the soaps that are shown in the 8pm-9pm hour are the ones that can more easily be replaced I think.
I noticed that they didn't miss the opportunity to peddle Britbox, despite commenting at how the over-70s audience generally only had access to FTA services.
Heard a whisper, but it's worth mentioning, that Britbox might go Free for a limited time, possibly two months, facilitated by allowing two additional free trials started in April and May, so current subscribers could cease allowing their current subs to wind down then get the trials before picking up purchases again on second trial expiry in June.

TBF ITV also mentioned ITV3 which most OAPs will have access to.
