Coronation Street

I am guessing it will be located far away from the street - otherwise, response times for crimes on the street are going to go down rapidly! Taking a look at the photos, the road that goes from the extension to the police station is a no through road from the extension side, so I presume there is a something after the estate agents that closes it off and on the police station side, it appears to be part of the station's compound. I am assuming that the older part of the police station is the court previously mentioned.

The section behind Roy's Rolls that has had the brewery extension was not included, so perhaps that is not being used for now and kept for the future if required. That road is next to the police station/court, so may need a dividing wall considering I presume it is actually supposed to be based where it is given the brewery connection.

Interestingly, no school set in the end. Perhaps it was decided that it wasn't worthwhile considering the storylines.

I thought Hollyoaks had an alien plot, or is that just one too many McQueen plots?

Hollyoaks isn't on my radar, I admit. Night and Day had that sort of strangeness too, but then that never took off.

Odd thing on tonight's current episode. Mary's son's (a marine biologist) phone rang, and the subtitles had it down as "(MOBILE RINGS - STINGRAY THEME)" but the actual sound was a generic ringtone.

Could it have been a late change due to music rights? I think I'd always assumed ringtones were done live, somehow, but it'd probably need to be a wifi-connected app to get the timing right if it happens mid-conversation.

If they were done live, it presumably wouldn't be by getting the prop phone to ring, it would be played in as an effect

Can you believe that many of the residents of EastEnders manage to afford their own house? Or even could afford to rent a whole house a stones throw away from Docklands? In reality every home on that street (and perhaps the pub) would have been converted into flats by now.

Spot on re Emmerdale and Eastenders. Such a pretty village outside Leeds would be rather costly for property, although the producers address this to some extent with a wide variety of characters holding down different jobs. Eastenders is definitely rather ridiculous and it clearly attempted to take that issue on with the development story. Unfortunately the script writers just got completely carried away.

Re. Corrie's setting not being realistic, have you ever been to Manchester? There are HUNDREDS of similar streets! This one is just a completely random example. Not identical but very similar. The streetplan even has the grid layout as was illustrated in the older opening to Corrie (with wider shots)....

The new areas of the outdoor set look nice, although rather 'midget sized' in the photographs, which is different to the main street as that is now almost full-size. Perhaps it will all look like more realistic dimensions when on screen with correctly angled shots.

That's exactly what Wilmott brown was doing before his storyline abruptly ended.

I agree the actual street (i.e. the actual terraced houses) is similar but what I was getting at is the amount of shops and services in close proximity, where is the pub on the corner? Where is the newsagent, mechanics, hairdressers, factory, doctors, fast food outlets and posh restaurants?

And the new Indian restaurant/takeaway "Speed Daal". (Didn't EastEnders get complaints about The Argee Bhajee?)



The strange angles of some of the buildings suggests they've planned how to shoot it (as would be expected). I doubt they'll use the ticket office and the two shops in the same shot.

I don't know if it's just me, but surely it's pretty common to have a hair salon, shops, coffee house and takeaways all on the same street? And I can think of one area near me in particular where those shops are in close proximity to a doctors surgery, several dentists and a small industrial site.

If anything it's a miracle that Greggs hasn't waded in and closed the tram station so they've got a unit next to Costa, and Wetherspoons hasn't snapped up the Rovers.
