Does the tram ever run along there now? Either visibly or only audibly? Or did they never fix it after the crash?

I'm suprised we never see a tram to be honest. EastEnders are putting on their CGI tube trains all the time now!

The older Corrie episodes are so much more professional and stylish than the modern ones. Slower pace, smaller cast, less episodes. Shame they've messed it all up now.

I think you could say the same for nearly every TV show that has changed since the old days. The Bill being one example, Londons burning and so on.

It’s funny I was watching that episode up the page and I thought the acting seemed a lot worse in those days and not to mention the glaring error which they’d never get away with today.

I'm up to 1968 on the DVDs now- they'd just started using the outdoor set. A couple of shots where the camera pans too high and you can see the scaffolding holding the frontages up!

The viaduct...

I wonder how many people spotted that unfortunate visual gaffe when that episode first aired!

And it wasn't just a quick shot, it was fully in the background throughout a whole scene. They wouldn't get away with that today, and considering they had more time to reherse in those days I'm surprised they didn't retake with a different shot.

Of course by that time the trains had stopped running along there, it would be another ten years before the trams would get a look in, I dont know if there knocked part of it down or if there rebuilt it because of the all that development going on around that area?

It's not real...

Really? I thought the whole show was made by sticking hidden cameras around and filming real people's lives. Thanks for shattering my illusions.

It's not CGI; it's composited footage of a real train:

Have EE knocked the footage of the D-Stock on the head in favour of S7/S8 stock yet?

Nice little explanation of the nighttime credit zoom from a few years back on that user's channel too. The effort for just a few seconds of an episode is amazing.

We did start seeing and hearing quite a few trams in the months running up to the tram crash. I guess had we never seen or heard one, it would have been strange to see one suddenly crashing over the viaduct.

I agree It'd be nice to have the odd one appear for a bit of realism, but I'd imagine for the bother of adding in a CGI tram, they probably don't think it's worth it. Maybe they could include one when the titles are next updated... which is well overdue when you consider how many revamps the Bistro exterior has had since the last change.
