Not just an affair storyline, but a storyline that was planned to be a major part of the christmas episodes.

I imagine the Christmas episodes have already been filmed. If not, Corrie will have a problem on their hands.

According to an article in the Metro:

Quote:
"Due to the central nature of the plotline, the actor’s scenes can’t be removed but it’s thought that bosses are keen to minimise the amount of time he appears on screen for the rest of the storyline.

Focus will switch to Alya, Yasmeen and Zeedan, according to Metro.co.uk, so the plot can be completed with minimal involvement of Sharif. Marc won’t film any new scenes for the soap."

The Christmas episodes haven't been filmed, they don't film that far in advance!

Soaps usually film around 6-8 weeks in advance, so they won't have filmed beyond mid-November.

The Christmas episodes are always filmed earlier than standard episodes.

EastEnders traditionally films in October for its Christmas episodes, it might be different for the ITV soaps.

Can't they use old footage of him in a car and then make a new scene with that car driving into a river, or something.

Totally the wrong decision and an overreaction by ITV, the actor should have been given a good talking to maybe a suspension and the chance to apologise.

I genuinely believe the show has a duty of care to it's talent and shouldn't just throw them under the bus due to a single outburst like this.

It's funny you can drink drive and genuinely put lives in danger and not be punished by the show but if you post misguided Tweets they string you out to dry.

I agree a suspension would have been more balanced, but we live in a PC world.

Not sure I agree. I doubt an Irish or British actor would have been 'given a good talking to' if the tweets had been about Northern Ireland and similarly offensive. Kashmir is a highly contentious subject for India and Pakistan. Anyone tweeting about it would know the impact their posts would have.

I don't think this is political correctness, particularly if you read the tweets in question.
