CITV is to extend its broadcast hours to 9PM. There has not been any announcement, but on the ITV.com listings, it shows the extended schedule until Thursday. The Freeview listings go to 6PM as usual however.

It's good to see that the channel is considered. Maybe they'll look to launch an HD version soon. On Sky it's one of the few channels without an HD variant.

Could this be to get in there before CBBC?

It timeshares with JML, doesn't it? What used to be The Store/The Zone, ITV's Teleshopping channel. I imagine that they'll sort that out in the next few weeks - the decision to extend the hours almost certainly is because CBBC will be doing so as well once the BBC Three transitional channel ends.

A shame they've not revisited the 'Old Skool' formula for the extra hours.

Lets hope they get some more money aswell. There has been a marked improvement I think, and lets hope this continues.

It just seems its extra Horrid Henry and some other shows, but I imagine it will improve with time. I really do think a "best of the web" show would work, with gaming, YouTube vlogs and all that. It would work well in a later slot too.

Or go down the 'nick at nite' route like Nickelodeon in the USA do.

I'm pretty sure it timeshares with ITV3+1 on Freeview which would surely get higher ratings that CITV so I'd be surprised if anything changed on Freeview.

Just looking around, it seems the extended hours are only on satellite and cable. CITV on Freeview will continue to close at 6PM.

The TV guide needs to mention that. Otherwise people will expect it to apply to Freeview as well.

My TV (our aerial isn't very good) can get CITV but not ITV3+1 - so obviously they don't timeshare. That TV does get JML. ITV3+1 being 6pm to 6am (just checked that on Wikipedia) is a coincidence - it shares with something else.

Yeah, CITV should show some of the programmes that they have made in the past under the 'Old Skool' banner.

Some more live action programming would be nice. Show a face and speak to the viewer and you could have a viewer of ITV programming for life...or at least the next 30 minutes. Smile Like the idea of a best of the web/Gaming strand, there's not a lot of programming for that genre.
