Well, we all know what Christmas TV is like here in the UK, but what about around the world.

Along with idents, I also ask that people add schedule information re: Christmas programming here.

I was in Germany last weekend and RTL ran a nice little Christmas trailer. Theirs featured the RTL logo in a snowglobe in an arctic setting and it advertised films for Christmas (in German obviously). the highlights of their film premieres are Gone in Sixty Seconds, The Princess Diaries and Ice Age, and The Fast and the Furious.

The programming last weekend was dire though. A four hour carol fest seemed to be on three of the channels. A hillbilly Country Band sang "rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" in German! Laugh? I nearly died!!!

In Canada, Global Television uses lyrics from Christmas Carols as part of the bumpers. I've seen "joy to the world" "peace on earth" and so forth. However, I can't really say I've seen them yet. They've recently created a few new generic idents.

CTV uses a reindeer with a red nose walking along with the CTV logo and traditional red ribbon and background.

I think CBC has a Happy Holidays ident. I may of seen that in the past, but I can't be too sure on this.

Any news on programming.

I've not seen this year's US schedules, but from what I recall of last year they don't really do much around Christmas - generally repeats. The only thing I remember of note last year was World Idol on Fox, while ITV2 is screening an American Idol Christmas Special next Sunday, so I guess that airs sometime this week.
