And if that trailer is an indication of the BBC idents this year it's fair to say they're the worst Christmas idents ever. If they were from ITV they would be deservedly slated.

But do you not think that's because of the calibre of a BBC celebrity over an ITV celebrity? The BBC's ident seems to focus around David Jason, Bruce Forsyth and the Outnumbered kids; ITV's would have something like Ant and Dec, some X-Factor person and Vernon Kay....

Perhaps I'm being snobby! Laughing

That promo is....awful! I can see what they're trying to do but really, it's just bad. As mentioned, if it was ITV you'd all hate it.

Brings back memories of this, which is painful to watch 18 years on (although I can remember nearly all the words!)

Wow. That is fantastic. Why don't I remember this? I like this years effort too, but it isn't as good as that example from 1993. They both convey Christmas television much more than Doctor Who, Wallace and Gromit or other recent idents.

They convey Christmas telly by being godawful, cheesy and cloyingly old fashioned? I won't disagree but surely it's a bit much...

In the style of the song: All I want for Christmas is... a Channel 4 Christmas ident, and for ITV to use some different music. Smile

Ha, yes, it reminded me of exactly the same thing. Just as cringeworthy (In fairness, it starts off OK with David Jason and Graham Norton, but by the time Nick Knowles turned up I lost the will to live)

And, yeah, I also remember some of the words from the 1993 one, the Big Break bit has stuck in my head all these years later..

I really like the ident actually, not what I was expecting though.

Never heard of Mrs Brown's Boys. Is it any good?

It's the best new BBC comedy in quite some time IMO - though the Daily Mail won't like it airing on Christmas Day.

They are pretty good though, has to be said.

When do we expect to see Christmas presentation arrive at the likes of Sky 1, Sky Atlantic, etc.? I know the Christmas Channel launches on Thursday, is this when all their presentation will change?
