The BBC have surprisingly mentioned this, although still putting a bit of a positive spin on things: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-16332285

That article is stupid, they can't compare Corrie to Eastenders and Doctor Who to Downton Abbey because they all aired in different time slots! Well done BBC News, very impartial.....

I thought the Christmas Day offerings this year were extremely bad. The Christmas episode of EastEnders I felt was on too late, don't see why it couldn't have been put on at 8 instead of 9. No wonder none of the programmes broke the 10m mark ratings wise. The movies were mostly a load of crap, BBC One was showing a load of Disney cartoons all day. I love Disney and animation films but it didn't feel right to have so many on Christmas Day. The early evening slot was occupied by Ratatouille which I found strange. ITV's only main offering was Downton this year. Poor year for Chrtistmas TV and I hope that 2012 has a much better and thought out christmas schedule.

I think ITV would argue that it has been the most successful Christmas schedule for a long time, all of its programmes faired really well

Emmerdale was the 8th most watched
Family Fortunes was 9th including +1
Coronation Street came 2nd slight disappointment but still
Downton Abbey was the 3rd most watched behind two of the most high rating shows ever
So every one of their programmes was in the Top 10!

Because then it would've clashed with Coronation Street.

Fair assessment for the show though, it's good but only if you view it as satirical of bad 60s and 70s sitcoms.

I don't find it offensive as a Catholic but I don't think it's funny either. Seems like something BBC Two should have; it's more in the realms of alternative comedy and would probably be better suited there.

Plus, as TV Forumites know, BBC Two doesn't have much going for it at the moment, maybe it could get a cult audience there and reassure us of a future for Two.

Mrs Brown's Boys is the best BBC1 comedy in ages but they're taking a risk moving it into primetime - it was perfect in a 10.35pm slot, so putting it at 9.30pm on a Monday (Friday wouldn't be so bad) paired with a supposedly inoffensive "family" "sitcom" doesn't seem the best scheduling.

Its maybe only on at 9.30pm because Match of the Day is on that night. Hope it does move back to the 10.30 slot because it is far better suit there.

Corrie was originally meant to be on at 7 but it was changed because BBC changed EE's slot at the last minute. A programme which was meant to be shown on Christmas Day was pulled from the schedule and replaced with Monsters vs. Aliens and as a result the whole schedule had to be pushed back an hour.
