Challenge TV launched on Freeview!

Ted Rogers mentioned that he would be back in a few weeks for the Christmas special so hopefully that will be shown on Saturday.

Did Challenge Prize Time give away ceramic Dusty Bins in their early years or am I imagining it? I wonder where they got them from. Would they have come from a dusty cupboard at Yorkshire Television or would they have had them made in the late 90s?

EDIT : The first episode of Catchphrase cut to a Catchphrase graphic and then the break as soon as a contestant had got a catchphrase right. Roy Walker was still talking. Is this another stupid and badly done edit just so they can show another promo?

Challenge's dodgy edits go back well before Sky's consideration into buying VMTV. That clip, though, is shocking. If anything, now, it'll be an awkward cut from Roy saying 'Hello' into a joke to hide the competition.

Dunno if anyone saw Friday's edition of Blockbusters, but as well as the hand-jive, it had contestants in front of the camera - juggling and playing with yoyo's as the credits rolled up!! It was classic!!

We need more of this on TV nowadays!!!

I suppose it just seems worse now because Sky kept the bad edits from Virgin and added their own too. Certainly the bad edits are more common now anyway even if some of them do originate before Sky's reign.

OMFG! The episode of Catchphrase on now (Brian and Cindy) has the subtitles for a different episode (Trevor and Catherine). ROTFLMAO. LOL!



That was neither Friday's episode (it was shown on Saturday) nor a Friday episode (it can't have been because we got a Friday episode today). I guess they just added a bit of mid-week juggling.

I agree, we do need more action under the end credits, but I think that is against the marketing guidelines of most broadcasters now. Where would the IPP go? Even Challenge spoke over it.

I've just watched an episode of Catchphrase with Audio description on and have nearly been in tears!

'Mr Chips kicks over and bucket, and falls flat on his face, with an upset expression'.

And when the show finishes we get a 'The End'.

Trevor Montague, notorious 15-1 contestant is on Krypton Factor right now, under the alias of Steve Romana.

It looks to me that those big TV sets on The Krypton Factor don't actually do anything when the contestant touches them. It looks like they just work out the contestant's scores by watching the footage.

According to ukgameshows.com he also appeared as Trevor Montague in 1988 as well, so pretty much a repeat of what he did on 15-1.

The 1995 series of The Krypton Factor is one of most boring but with the help of this thread it could be considered one of the most interesting.

Some observations from this weekend's new schedule.

Take your Pick dated from 1991 but had a relatively modern day Thames endcap (one from say 10 years ago)

Family Fortunes featured a contestants call in the credits. The first episode kept it in, complete with voiceover from Peter Dickson, but an on screen caption saying that the appeal is now closed.

The second episode featured clean theme music without voiceover and the address kept in, but blurred out.

I've spent an enjoyable day with Challenge... 321, Blockbusters, Catchphrase and just caught up with Take Your Pick!

Talking of the latter, I wish ITV would air quizzes like Take Your Pick again, its a simple format of a well loved host and the general public being themselves, and at times being very funny.

I have also found myself watching Challenge for 3 or 4 hours back to back in recent weeks. It hasn't been this good since 1997. If they could just bring back Prize Time and revert the stupid edits then it would be perfect.

As for observations, one of the prizes in Family Fortunes was a "top of the range virtual reality games console". This turned out to be a Sega Dreamcast which was proudly displayed with its control pad upside down.
