As Davina herself has said, Big Brother can go on forever. They just need to cast it right. Every year they've tried to copy the BB5 line up and make it that little bit more extreme, when come BB7 they couldn't go any more extreme. Then the race row didn't help matters which meant they really had to tone BB8 down. For BB9 they seemed to have a little rethink about their casting. We had some housemates with a little depth and from all different backgrounds, for example from the unfortunate side of life we had Sara, Darnell, Mikey etc whilst on the rosy side we had Rachel, Rex etc. But by BB10 they slipped back to their old ways.

I think that they should really do for BB11 is go back to BB9 style casting- maybe go for headlines but also look beyond them and which housemates have an interesting story to tell.

If BB ever does return, I hope it isn't in 2011. It needs a break, maybe 5-10 years. Almost 7m people were interested in this years celebrity launch show, so the interest is still clearly there in the show. The producers just need to give something viewers to be interested in . But if BB does come back they have to make the choice- Celebrity BB or ordinary BB. They can't have both co-existing. I don't think it will work anymore due to overexposure. The only way it could probably work is by CBB airing on TV and BB going online only as suggested by Endemol.

I agree with you, BB needs to choose. I think CBB is a winner. This year cast has great. The only thing is I think BB needs to test them a bit more. The show need a long break so produces can come up with new way to test the house mates.

I really think Davina and David Tennant can make a great saturday night entrainment show. I think they were the best presenters on comic relief last year and I think if the show fit well it can work really well. (Here an idea for you BBC)

I do think it would have benefited both if Davina and Big Brother had parted company a couple of years ago. Regardless of your views on her role ultimately Big Brother got axed because it didn't evolve, and if a new presenter had been drafted in that might have been the stimulus to take the show in a new direction.

I don't see that at all.

She's such a minor part of the proceedings. She does the launch, and then you don't see her until the eliminations - events based solely around the daily shows where she doesn't feature at all.

Granted Marcus is the bigger problem, but the host is the face of the show and Davina isn't exciting enough to keep the press interested. Perhaps it shouldn't be about image, but the fact is at the moment image is very important in TV land. Cheryl and Dannii on The X Factor and Holly on Dancing on Ice keep the (gutter) press interested beyond the formalities of the show - something someone who wears black every single show doesn't do. To be fair then it's probably her stylist who should get the sack!
(and apologies for the awful explanation, not really conveyed what I mean there. Basically new host = new interest)

And on the other issue of Davina is Big Brother - that's part of the problem. Great when BB is good, but not so great when BB is in the duldrums and needs to evolve. When you're that closely associated with a show as well as taking the credit when things are going well, you also need to be prepared to face the consequences when things are not working.

As I've said before, the current format of Big Brother will always involve Davina and Marcus... as it should do, they are part of what makes the current format complete. And unless they do a complete reworking of BB in the future, Davina should always be there. Infact if they ever were to completely reformat the show, Davina would be the only sensible transition point, keeping her through the format change so as to not alienate viewers.

The problem is, they've had to become far more careful not to offend people watching with anything that could be seen as controversial now. Aside from getting the right casting, this is one of the problems that has toned down BB a lot over the years.

Yes, it's true that BB could go on forever but to be honest, it's no longer 'event television' in the sense it used to be.

Tonights final is fantastic! It has a great feel to it and the usual filler at the start of the show was replaced by much better filler. The final highlights were short but sweet. I think they were very sentimental and not showing not only the end of the CBB7, but CBB as a whole. Even Davina was almost crying!

A very good final to a very good series, and while it's good the series went out on a high, it just shows what could've been achieved for the years previous if they've tried a little harder and perhaps acted like every year was the last...

...now onto the summer, where Big Brother will leave it's possible final mark. Let's hope it's a goodun!

I shouldn't but I have really high hopes for BB11 now. The final was great, felt like event TV again but like other people have said, all this should have been done at least 3 years ago.

I've heard a few rumours about Five apparently being interested in CBB, although I'm a huge fan I just think the show should go now, on a high, rather than the whole thing backfire and whimper out in 2012 which is highly likely imo unfortunately.

To me this years CBB was different but still the same to what its always been. Same about yesterdays final It didn't seem the different to me. Overall I felt this series was pretty rubbish IMO and I'm one who used to be a big fan.

Best thing to do is for BB to take a couple of years break after the summer and come back revolutionised and refreshed that'll keep our interests up again for a few series. But it desperately needs a break as 10 years is slight overkill for a show that airs every day for 4 months in the year.

I felt a few years back that they should alternate it, Celeb in the odd years, normal series in the even... or vice versa, whatever floats your boat... then there's only one series a year, and they're also evenly spaced a year each as apposed to Summer and Winter.

They definitely shouldn't have signed a contract which compelled them to do a series every January - it was better in the first few years when CBB ended up being once every two series.

I think C4 have got to look at the commercial realities and though they should hold off to see how BB11 performs, I think a tentative deal to do a short Celeb BB next year (in June, where BB usually begins) and then depending on how that goes revive the main series in summer 2012 - but then start it afresh.

There should never have been a CBB after BB7 if they wanted longevity in the format. 2006 was the overkill point for Big Brother so what they should have done was skip CBB 2007 and gone straight into BB8 with a much calmer approach, a bit like what they did with BB4 after BB3, only they should have made it entertaining! Ironically if they did it that way, they would have skipped the race row and maybe the BB8 racism wouldn't have been thought of twice! I don't think BB8 was all that bad though, it gets a lot of stick. I thought the housemates were quite good (but there were far too many and the opening twist was terribly executed- they should have put 10 women in on launch night and 6 men on the Friday) but the production was awful. Most of the time it felt like they were making it up as they went along, e.g the silly HND rip off. Thank god they got rid of Rebecca De Young. Her bias towards Charley was ridiculous- first they saved her and her friend from eviction as a punishment, then she had the fake eviction (which was a fantastic concept, its just a shame it was wasted on Charley) and then the HND popped up on her eviction night, I was half expecting them to send her in there!
