I think that side is used a bit more often on BT Sport ESPN, when one overrunning American sport is on immediately before one originating from another network. Probably also for 5pm Bundesliga games on Saturdays, where match footage isn't allowed to be shown live before 5.15pm.

That makes sense. Do they start on the red button if the previous match runs over?

Considering both Sky and BT along with UEFA are seeking a FTA partner, it was only going to be them ITV or Channel 5. I guess there's a long way to go here but interesting should they obtain the rights. Potentially Tuesday next fixtures on the assumption that Bake Off will stay on Wednesdays?

As for BT Showcase - BT's dependence on the channel will reduce to some extent if they manage to strike a joint deal between one of the PSBs and BT. However, there's still going to be events that will air on Showcase, so I doubt they'll ditch it at all.

Interesting that the ESPN OJ Simpson extended longform documentary series heavily shown on BTS since last autumn has now popped up as an iPlayer only 'exclusive' on the BBC platform. I wonder if more of the ESPN documentaries will find their way onto the iPlayer in the coming months.

I'd say its unlikely. I've watched a few and (whilst very well made) they'll be of limited interest to a general UK audience. 'Made In America' is exceptional - both in the fact that it will have wider appeal and as a documentary itself- its comprehensive and exceptionally well told. If you can commit the time (about 8 hours in total) I'd thoroughly recommend it as it goes far beyond the sport of American Football to be a tale of american society and popular culture. I realise it academic as its iPlayer only, but I wonder if people might have been more prepared to press play on a programme with five 95 -100 minute episodes rather than two at over 3 hours and one at 100 minutes.

Anyway, if you're at all interested in american popular culture, race issues in the US or sport - and particularly the way those mix together - do try and take the time to watch it.

There is also an ESPN 30 for 30 documentary that you should look out for, which are currently being shown during the day on BT Sport (though before that I had to get it via other means as it's not available to purchase in the UK).

It's called June 17th, 1994 , a talking-head-less documentary that features only TV footage from the day of the OJ Simpson car chase. Fascinating to watch things unfolding in real time (or at least near to real time) with lots of unbroadcast footage from TV presenters while off the air. It's not just about the chase though - you'll be surprised just how many other notable sporting events happened on the same day, detailed here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/June_17th,_1994

It's in three parts, here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p04sh539/episodes/player
It seems to be Storyville branded.

The whole 7-ish hours were also shown overnight on BT Sport last week, commercial free.
