Afraid Jake Humphrey and Martin Keown have had a dust up on BTS tonight. Martin Keown was late for tonight's UEFAEL coverage and was being ribbed for so being on several occasions including during match commentary. Keown had enough and explained the reason to viewers, seemingly held up by a suicide on the railway on his way to the studio. Humphrey forced therefore into a quick apology and condolences offered. I suspect that we'll hear more of this going forward if it's not swamped by the other big event of the day.

Left a sour taste at the end of the match.

Indeed it was all incredibly awkward TV.

Surely Jake would've asked why Martin was late and if so thought better than to keep teasing him about it (Jake does like to take a joke too far though). But then Keown really should've thought before speaking.

Interesting development, seems that BT have changed their T&Cs in the last few days. All new contracts now for TV and Broadband have moved to LOAN of equipment for the duration of the contract with a payable surcharge should the customer leave and not return any equipment so loaned. Any equipment supplied to existing customers as maintenance swaps will now likely be refurbished as new, rather than new too. The previous practice being that once the stated minimum contract was complete the customer could retain any equipment supplied.

They’re pretty much mirroring the policy of Virgin Media (and Cable as a whole previously) and Sky with Sky Q.

Despite this I still have my old Virgin TV box that I used when I had multiroom.

Wonder if it's an accounting thing - stating they own equipment rather than that they've sold it adds to the balance sheet, though of course historically when companies go bust they're worthless as an asset as people won't give them back.

It's a useful accounting tool, means that the subscriptions can be based lower, the depreciation of the customer kit can be extended beyond the initial contract length. They've made the returns process easier too, 'loaned' kit can be returned to any EE/BT shop (they're joint branded now).

I suspect the anticipated new box for TV next year has come in at a per unit cost much higher than the present and a mechanism for recovering the added costs was needed.

I've always assumed (rightly or wrongly) that that was the reason that Sky Q receivers moved to that model.

All WTA content has now been removed from the catchup players on all platforms of BTTV, a new WWE subsection has replaced it, matching the contract termination of Women's Tennis and the start of the new WWE contract from 2020.

any EE/BT shop (they're joint branded now).
Including the Hull branch, which is silly considering that most BT services (BT TV, landline telephones, Internet) aren't available here because we have KCOM instead!

However, you don't need to travel very far out of Hull, to be back in BT-Land, so it still makes sense to have retail presence there
