Property Week understands DTZ and Lambert Smith Hampton have been appointed to sell the building, known as Stage 6, for around £55m. BBC Worldwide will be moving into the 100,000 sq ft newly-refurbished building next month, marking the next phase in the development of the site. The commercial arm of the British Broadcasting Company signed a 25-year lease and is moving from its current home at nearby BBC Media Village.

Developers Stanhope and investment partner Mitsui Fudosan received consent for their revised plans for the redevelopment of Television Centre in west London last month. The revised plans for a mixed-use development at the iconic building - including a new Soho House club, 950 homes, office accommodation, hotel and other leisure uses - were submitted in May 2014. The revisions agreed by the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham planning committee include the demolition of the existing Stage 4 and 5 office buildings and their replacement with a more sustainable and efficient new AHMM-designed ten storey office building.

Edited highlights... It's not really telling us anything we don't already know. The BBC owns property, sells it, then pays far more to lease it and use it again. Thanks to the unique we they're funded.

TC1 back in use (Ariel 28/01/2015)

'The stars return to Television CentreDizzee Rascal and Mark Ronson at the launch party Dizzee Rascal was among 500 special guests at Mark Ronson's launch party

It was like old times at Television Centre last week, when its biggest studio slung open its doors to some of Britain's top stars.

The studio, which has been out of action for nearly two years, hosted Mark Ronson's launch party for his Uptown Special album.

Nicole Scherzinger, Eliza Doolittle, Dizzee Rascal and Radio 1's Annie Mac were among the 500 special guests, as the English-born DJ and producer celebrated being top of the album and single charts in the UK and the US.

It was no small task to bring TC1 out of hibernation and make it ready for the event. But for Mike Eaton, who has spent most of his 37 years at the BBC as part of TV Centre's duty facilities management team, it was business as usual.

'As the studio hadn't been used since March 2013, there was a bit of cleaning and housekeeping to be taken care of,' said Eaton, who is currently vacant possession project manager. 'But working with BBC Studios and Post Production, BBC Workplace, Stanhope and the events team, we got everything ready in time for TC1 to once again take centre stage for another memorable evening of entertainment.'

The building was sold to Stanhope plc for £200m in 2012. The developers are transforming the famous site - home to BBC television programmes for more than 50 years - into homes, offices, a hotel, shops and restaurants.

BBC Studios and Post Production will be returning to the revamped studios (1 to 3) in 2017, while BBC Worldwide begins its move into a refurbished Stage 6 next month.

Eh? What were the BBC's annual running costs (facilities management, maintenance etc.) for the TV Centre site prior to them selling the leasehold to Stanhope? Without that bit of information we don't know that the Stage VI lease costs are 'far more' do we?

General BBC property question, where did Top Gear film that first bit with the Stig in the mobility scooter and the trailer hitch stretcher?

What is white city upto these days? Have they leased it to someone else/demolished it?

I was there in its last week of opening, I recall it was very much part occupied/empty by that time, and loads of posters saying the building was closing.
