The comedian vicar's VT was clearly filmed before lockdown, I wonder how many they managed to shoot before everything was shut down, that's the only one I've noticed didn't have any social distancing.

They just had a women playing with a puppet for 3 minutes. Just wow.

The setup for the quarter finals makes me wonder if they might rush through a series of The X Factor for Christmas or early 2021. The mother and daughter act tonight felt very X Factor in its staging. It would be the ultimate back-to-basics series which is just what it’d need.

I don't think they'll ever rush together a series of The X Factor again after the truly dreadful The Band series last year.

In fact Kevin Lygo said in Edinburgh that it was unlikely to return next year.

I don’t know what they were smoking when they came up with the band and the celeb series last year, but a *classic* series would work I think. I just think they might be looking at how well this series of BGT is working.

That's what I thought, but looking closer suggests they are households together, then separation between the groups - though he got quite close to some of them when he walked through.

That "scary dancers" warning was definitely a dig at the complainers.

Do you think they re-edited the show to change the judges' entrance music to 'I'm Still Standing' this week? Seems a bit too on the nose for it to have been coincidental, but some effort to swap out on a show that's not normally too heavily edited post filming (unlike the US version with its looser morals, where they were caught compositing a shot of the judges' reactions during a performance to adjust the narrative).

ITV have responded about BGT complaints.

ITV spokesman: "Britain's Got Talent has always been an inclusive show, which showcases diversity and supports strong storytelling in all forms and ITV stands behind the decision to broadcast Diversity's performance on BGT.

"Ashley and the group are a great example of the talent, creativity and diversity of modern Britain and their performance was an authentic, heartfelt response to many of the issues and events which have affected society in 2020."

The Sun are reporting that complaints have risen over 23,000:

ITV's response tells me two things.
1 I don't believe they'll apologise because they have no need to
2. The backlash will increase so ITV are going to have to stand their ground.

Only rising because a number of far right Facebook accounts are encouraging racists to send complaints.

Sad but true. ITV have however said that Diversity will be part of the BGT Christmas Special which is a huge and well deserved confidence vote.

Ofcom have ruled on the "controversial" Diversity performance on BGT earlier this month - "In our view, Diversity’s performance was an artistic expression of topical social issues and did not contain any content which was racist, unsuitably violent or otherwise inappropriate in the context of this programme".
