I went onto bid's site to have a look at the quantity of an item they were selling, as they were using a percentage instead of a quantity sold or left figure (which I believe they have done before, but not for a while). I didn't find a quantity, but I found this:

This wasn't showing on Freeview; the "Sharpstream" bit suggests it's something to do with the stream's chain. The price drop stream was working as normal.

The Osprey 210 is apparently a capture card

which has a 'Loss of video automatic test pattern generation with text overlay option'.

The bid stream seems to be working fine now.

Bid has brought back the gardening segments with a new presenter, and the green bid plus graphics (but normal bid logo). It appears that it is being generated by the old speed auction equipment, due to the poorer quality shadows and differences in opacity. It also lacks the nice transition that came with Alan and Barry when switching between different items.

They used the 'Christmas' graphics for the gardening section on Price Drop yesterday too. First time I have seen them during live programming, even at Christmas.

I'd forgotten the name of the gardening man - Peter Simon has just said it's Matt Wright.

Apparently according to shopping telly.com Guy Keane has left the company.

I also spotted Cris St Valery on the Jewellery channel this morning.

Cris St Valery has been on The Jewellery Channel for a long while now - I think he left before Paul Becque went to Ideal World.

Guy Kean was only ever on in the earlier shifts on bid, so not a particularly high-profile departure if true.

I found this clip from the good old days of bid-up and in this clip Peter Simon is doing some auctions. The DOG says "Live Speed Auctions" but Peter is clearly saying the wrong phone number on all auctions in this clip:

Good clip. I remember these well. Generally around 6 hours a day of auctions at that time would be called 'Hot Lots'. Each 'Hot Lot' segment would appear twice. The first time whilst the presenter was live in the studio but then that hour long segment would get shown again at a different time the next day. For example if Peter Simon was doing a 5-8 shift then the middle hour would be hot lots which would then get shown again the following day at midnight. The presenter would clearly be there the first time but would never mention the price in the auction arrow or the names of the bidders as that would compromise the
Validity of the show the second time it was shown. The example in this video clearly matches this description. The auction was live as you were bidding against viewers watching at the same time as you with the relevant on screen graphics but if you were watching the second playing of the 'Hot Lots' then the presenter was clearly not live at that point. If you were watchinG whilst the presenter was live you would notice the difference at the end of the 'Hot Lots' hour as they would start to quote the arrow prices again as well as reading out the bidders names. 'Hot Lots' stopped in 2003, a few months before the launch of 'Price Drop TV'.

From 28th February 2014, Bid and Price Drop will swap channels. Bid on 645 and Price Drop on 654. Why? I don't know.

Edit: This is on the Sky Digital service only.

Where did you find out this information David? I don't want to call you a liar, but without proof I can't comprehend such a change.

It would be a strange thing to lie about. I can confirm I saw a trail on Bid warning of the change. It even went as far as to advertise the change happening at 10am.
