Sally Taylor won a Silver Award, runner up, at The BBC Ruby Awards on Tuesday but she hasn't mentioned anything!
Also well done to Carol Maria of Look North from Newcastle serving NE and Cumbria, who got the top Ruby award, Christa Ackroyd also of Look North but from Leeds serving Yorkshire and who could the Bronze Award.
On a South Today front Mark Sanders won the Ruby for best reporter for a second year running and Roger Johnson who got the Ruby for Sport.

Sorry if this has already been reported (I can't see it anywhere else). SET now has redubbed the opening titles with the London News / Look East music - does feel a bit odd...

It's looking really silly. Because the music simply doesn't fit to the pictures shown. Also, where is the sense in this. They are getting a new look in the near future anyway. So why don't they update their titles together with the studio? AND: Why do they use the BBC London music for the opening titles, but the Look East music for the closing titles?
I hope someone could answer these questions about Meridian for me please.
-Are all 3 versions of Meridian based in Southampton??
-Where is Meridian based in Southampton??
-Are Meridian in Southampton planning to move??
-When was the Region split up into 3??
The studios for the Meridian South and West news services are at Northam, near Southampton, though the West (Thames Valley) service has its newsroom in Newbury.
The Meridian East news service currently comes from New Hythe, near Maidstone.
Meridian is planning to move presentation of all three services to a new site on an industrial estate in Fareham.
The region was split into three when Meridian took over the franchise.

Thank you very much for your help.
Does anyone know the what the point is in moving the East to the South surely it is easier to be in the area where you are covering the news??

I see they've started using a National News style inset aston aswell. Midlands Today should start using this, it looks better than having nothing at all.

Also has the West always come from Southampton??
The only reason why the East service is moving from New Hythe to Fareham is the same as why Central's Nottingham studios are closing - ITV plc wants to cut costs. From the latest press reports in local papers, Meridian want to keep a newsroom in Maidstone and open one in Ashford, but they still want to close the studio in New Hythe, despite the protests of KCC, local MP's, etc..
I can see the New Hythe studios from my office window - I'm hoping I'll be able to pinch the big Meridian face when it finally comes down
The West service was originally presented from Newbury (not sure where) when Meridian started in 1993. I believe it moved to Southampton a couple of years ago when Granada took over (again, not 100% sure about that).
Any more news about the new South East Today set? Two presenters around that desk looks far too uncomfortable.
