Looks to be
some sort of Gogglebox bandwagon
jump by the look of it.
This sort of thing always looks wrong on BBC One, didn't they feature Christmas greetings from members of the public one year which didn't seem very BBC at all.
It doesn't sound very BBC One at all. Part of me thought that it was a way of giving the CA Christmas Day off but surely one will be needed for emergency.

Yeah I think it would be very distasteful if they didn't put a proper CA for junctions for the news and the Queen's annual Christmas message, I would expect complaints to come in a meltdown
BBC News on Christmas Day 2016 looks set to be at weird times, apparently according to latest updates their lunchtime bulletin is at 11.40am, the early evening bulletin is at the stupid time of 2.50pm to make way for prime time, with the late bulletin as said at 11.30pm. Pathetic. I know with the news channel and online these bulletins are surplus to requirements, but really pathetic.

For goodness sake, calm down. It said "key shows" in the article. Not every show, all day. And highly unlikely before the news or the Queen. They aren't totally daft.
Anyway, it might be okay. We'll still get idents for all the other festive days. Plus, anything's better than that Shrek red curtain thing they did the other year.

"Oooh I love that Huw Edwards, you know? Here's one of my fave shows of his, the news! Can you say, hashtag news banter!"
They are usually on the edge of primetime but 2.50pm is rather early when the late bulletin is at 11.30pm. ITV have two bulletins in between there though if you really want news - and the way 2016 is going there won't be any celebrities left to die on Christmas Day anyway.
