Incidentally, due to the football, the afternoon bulletin was on at 5.40 in Scotland, complete with a handover to Rob Mathieson on Reporting Scotland. I think the sport may have led with a Scottish story, which was nice.

I'm amazed that they seem to do the whole program in rehersal with the thunderclaps, titles and reports playing in. I would have thought that they would just rehearse the links. Is 'Peter' the director of the bullitin?

Yes, Peter's the director. They would only normally rehearse the headlines and the intro to the first package, giving the nations and regions the opportunity to rehearse their bit too, for the weekday bulletins. It is normal to rehearse any sovups, graphics sequences etc too though.

Aha! I *KNEW* she wasn't as stuck up as she seems! Just wait till Philip Hayton's outtakes - I have a sneaking suspicion he wears a Hula skirt under the desk...

Yes, apparently he has a calendar over his bed saying either 'Standing up to do part of bulletin, must remember to wear trousers' or 'Hula day!'.

And I'm waiting for everyone on here to start calling each other 'love', love.

So is this bulletin done live from London, or is it pre-recorded and sent up a line to Scotland?

How did they manage to encode and upload this without anyone realising?

Looks like someone lined it up to the start of the rehearsal rather than the transmission. Opps

Excellent insight into the accuracy of the BBC News there.

"... eh...? what's the love? a bomb love? ok love. ... how many dead? ... what do you mean we don't know love? ... well I'll just say eight then ... everyone happy with that? right ..."

"EIGHT DEAD!"

Very Happy
.

Not really. The question was whether there were seven or eight dead. There were seven when they rehearsed, but by the time they went on air they were eight. Jane was checking that the extra death was confirmed and that they could report it as unlike other channels they don't just rely on one agency source. They confirmed it and the headlines were updated.

Ah, fair enough.

Is there any reason why Scottish and UK news couldn't be presented in one bulletin produced by BBC Scotland?
