Cathy Killick did the continuity into the Y&L only part last year.

Just dug out a tape of last year's New Broadcasting House Spectacular, this is that dodgy caption (never knew Watchdog was two words)

and they say that the Midlands have the monopoly when it comes to dodgy in-house captions. "Watch Dog" indeed! Laughing

That is indeed a caption that Pebble Mill would be proud of. But it needs more fonts and colours - and perhaps blatantly going against some corporate guidelines too.

is having NORTH on the red box in upper case not a breach of corporate guidelines? In fact using the name of a region that doesn't exist (on screen at least) any more probably is too.

Just noticed that the space in Road Show shouldn't be there either Wink

So just to confirm:

Yesterday there was a time shift in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire only.

Next Monday there is a time shift in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire and the North West

Next Wednesday there is an opt out in the Midlands and across all the three North regions.

Does anyone know why all these various free listing mags, plus the Sunday Mercury TV guide, don't list English regional opts properly?

As far as they're concerned, it's 'Bonfire Of The Vanities' on Wednesday, even though they can list local ITV 1 correctly !

Also the Midlands opt out is now timed to start at 1125pm now, not 1115pm, according to tonight's MT !

Presumably the reason that network pres have been known to trail a film that a region is opting out of and timeshifting as coming up next

Well after last week's excitement of a regional time shift this week its very poor. I assume Manchester are providing the service tonight and have decided to timeshift all the trailers as well as the programmes so it looks to different than normal.

Except the announcements, anyone know who's doing the announcing for Leeds, Hull and Manchester tonight?

The Sunday Mercury TV guide is useless as it's printed too far in advance. Crap paper anyway.
If people want decent listings they should wait and pay for them.

I forgot about the opt-outs tonight. Bet there isn't any local continuity after the film..

well its by far the most popularly purchased sunday newspaper in my experience - people buy a sunday mercury AND a national usually - plus its 10p cheaper than you're national, and it has a sports results listing that is second to none. *FACT*

Hear Hear.

Tonight's Express & Star & Evening Mail list the Sports Awards as 1115pm, but MT have promoted again as being 1125pm, so who's right & what's the 10 min difference about ?

Well it was continuity from Birmingham into the late film there at 11.55pm. That funny voice who does BBC Midlands continuity did it.

In Yorks Lincs we've had Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham and of course London based continuity this week, the full set!

By the way East Midlands did their own Sports awards thing tonight.

well i have to say i wasn't disappointed by tonight!!

the music used when people collected their awards was very reminiscent of challenge aneka and VERY fab. naturally it didn't match the title/sting music, and the titles bared no relation to the bbc midlands sports awards logo - but i'd feel cheated if they did!!!

an evening of nick owen, obscure midlands sports bods and a rare appearance of the head of bbc midlands - what more could we wish for - not to mention kay's pebble mill continuity being heard on bbc north.

there was a period of black screen between the end of the awards and the ident for the film- do i presume that was to help bbc y&l, bbc nw, bbc ne&c and bbc east mids to all opt in cleanly?

3 cheers for kay.
