From Digital Spy...

Simon Amstell and Miquita Oliver are to leave Popworld in April after five years presenting the show.

The duo will go on to pursue new - but separate - projects: Oliver will continue as presenter on T4 while Amstell is being primed for his own music/comedy show.

Popworld, shown on Saturday mornings, is one of Channel 4's most important brands, pulling in a huge 53% share amongst adults 16-34. It also has a repeat window on MTV.

T4 commissioning editor Neil McCallum told Broadcast that he was seeking a new team to replace Amstell and Oliver but admitted they would be a "tough act to follow".

I can't see the show continuing to be a sucess without Simon. It'll just be lost among Saturday morning TV. They should have left it on Sunday mornings in my opinion as well. Have the ratings actually increased since the move last September

Bad news. Believe it or not, I love Popworld. I don't particularly enjoy the "Pop" but its cynical, sarcastic twist is brilliant to watch.

I haven't watched it since it moved to Saturdays, it was however one of my favourite shows for exactly the same reasons soap powder boy explained.

Alex Zane is the new host according to the 'Sun'. The show will be re-vamped and lose it's bitchy streak as they're struggling to book guests.

I'd imagine there's a bit of commercial influence here, considering the "Popworld" brand is an entity in its own right rather than just a television programme. I think I'm right in saying that Simon Fuller has/had a share in it. Perhaps that would explain the change?

I'm still not happy about it.

What on earth is it with these low-quality TV presenters that are hogging increasing amounts of terrestrial TV. This bloke has no charisma - he only is watchable if he pretends to be someone else.

The blokes from E4 Music would be a better choice than Alex Zane.

Surely the best option is to axe Popworld and screen another couple of episodes of Friends a week?

Seems the unique selling point has gone...

Let's face it - Popworld should logically be a random spacefiller in a T4 schedule filled by Friends and Futurama repeats. But because of its attitude (it could almost be called Popbitch Laughing ) it's a must watch for those interested in pop music, and those who despise it. Assuming they can get up in time (which I never could, of course). It gained a loyal viewership of students and those who wanted something different. I believe the late, great John Peel was even a fan.

Replace it with a bland version of what it was, and no-one will watch. They may as well watch the bland 'interviews' screened on Smash Hits and The Box.

As for being pushed..... well probably not. Both have been there for five years. Simon probably wants to do something different, and the other presenter, realising the show would be dead without him, is doing a runner. Perfectly logical.

The whole 'And Preston will be here, or will he, yes he will, or maybe not, yes or no...' section was good as well

I met him in London on holiday a couple of months ago and i thought he was really nice. i think he would be great as a popworld presenter.
