Looks like tonight is the first of the US Presedential debate. I know BBC News and Sky will be covering it LIVE, does anyone know if ITV News have a special programme?? I wonder who will present the BBC News programme?

Personally I cannot wait. Bush is such a bafoon when it comes to TV interviews, let alone a LIVE debate with a presedential cadidate. This should be very entertaining television.

Actually he's rather good at debates - he plays the bufoon to lower expectations and beat his opponent when he shines during debate (that's basically rehashed from many newspapers, I realise that). The good thing, IMHO, is that he can't fall back on that aspect this time around - he's got a record to defend.

Still think he'll win though...tsk...

Also they're not allowed to ask each other questions directly, which to me seems a slightly odd style of debate!

Yeah, this 32 page rule book which was mentioned in Clive Myrie's report seems a little excessive. I am wondering if the Bush administration had anthing to do in the creation of it. Rolling Eyes

No info at bbc.co.uk about who'll be presenting it. IIRC, someone said here that Gavin Esler will play a major role in the coverage of this year's US elections. Can anyone clarify this.

I think it will probably be the same as the conventions, which Katty Kay presented.

Incidentally, BBC One is joining News 24 early tonight, at 12.25am after Question Time and This Week, for live coverage of the Hartlepool by-election, and the Presidential debate will follow that on both channels (that is if the vote counting isn't as slow as the two parliamentary by-elections early in the year, they didn't declare until well after 2am IIRC).

Katty Kay is the main presenter for all the World.News24 election stuff.

Incidentally, may be worth keeping an eye on the Washington Studio over the next couple of weeks Very Happy

CBS News are running a WORM (Witness-Opinion-Response-Monitor) poll alongside their internet broadcast.

It is only 30 minutes in, but Kerry is outscoring Bush fairly significantly.

From the graphics I have seen, it seems like CBS have stuck with a similar format to the one they adopted in 2000; NBC's is increadibly simplistic, though.

Bit of useless information for you; Fox News were providing sound and pictures for the pool.

I think you are letting your Political views and prejudices get the better of you. Bush did well, as did Kerry. Also the consultation of a Dictionary, by you, wouldn't go amiss.

A bit of redecoration maybe?
BTW Are the windows in the background real or are they plasma screens?

They will be plasmas - they look the right size.
