Does anyone know or can clarify if Helen Pearson has been dropped for GMTV Bulletins? Julia Barthram has been doing them for about a month but Pearson still done some (trivial) reports..
Here was the odd start to tonights programme - with the breaking news - then when Helen Ford hands back NET was the recorded opt out as they cut to just after Pam and Ian say 'hello'
Oh, the facade was going so well until Ms Ford duly blew it right at the end. "More news as we get it." -> awkward pause -> opts kick in would have done the trick.
Edit: I'll admit I'm unsure whether I should have posted that given the tragic nature of the story but I think breaking news like this serves to highlight the glaring inadequacy and lunacy of the set up. Please be aware that I'm by no means making light of the story, just the presentation of it.

Of course the story is serious, but the big thing about the presentation is, they had to have this awkward start because of NET being pre recorded. If NET was live opts would have been the same! - but on this NET opt as I say when Helen hands back you just hear the end of 'Good Evening' by Ian. They could of put some sort of sting in or something
Lara Rostron left Look North at the end of today's programme, but I'm a little puzzled whether she's returning or not? Hannah Bayman gave her flowers and said "going on maternity leave" but then Lara claimed she was moving to "pastures new" - does that mean she doesn't plan to return afterwards?

The cynic in me says it sounds like she's taking the maternity leave and then not returning.
I notice the red pillar next to the soft area screen has been recoloured silver (as it originally appeared in the preview video of the set). A purely aesthetic change? Personally, I thought the red looked much nicer:

Pearson is back this morning.
That's been interesting since the 22nd Jan - Pearson has been off them, and she has only done the odd feature on the main programme.
Oh well I do rate Pearson so one is happy - Julia Barthram was steady but always looked nervous infront of cam.
