Herein lies the problem with the messed-up region that is Border - by that reckoning, it should also have all the major English political stories as well. STV News can cover Scottish national political stories as its two shows broadcast to one country within the UK. Border on the other hand would be broadcasting a lot of Scottish-only stories irrelevant to a lot of its audience.
The rebroadcasting of Scotland Tonight in the Border Scotland region and the odd token Scottish political story (plus in-depth coverage of the referendum, which is a big deal for the entire region - if Scotland breaks away it will have a huge impact on the north of England and borders, already affected by Scottish devolution) strikes me as the way round it. I suspect this will eventually happen - presumably ITV are in discussions with STV over Scotland Tonight and they've installed a new political editor.
It's not quite as simple as flicking a switching and rebroadcasting STV immediately. STV broadcasts its own weather after News at Ten rather than the national weather, and the timings may be different, so Border needs to work a way round that. The regional news is broadcast within Scotland Tonight so Border would have to find a way to opt in and to staff that. STV needs to negotiate a price.
Shouldn't lookaround have all the major Scottish political stories going on? what happened to that deal with STV to share news stories? Or did that go out the window with the STV-ITV dispute 4 years ago?

Does anyone know if ITV Border intends to open a new studio/office in Edinburgh? To the best of my knowledge, they currently only rent a desk in the Scottish Parliament. It looks like they're going to launch a night time news show from Edinburgh - with a team based in the capital. Surely that means we'll see them taking up some studio space in the city?

Welcome to the rest of the UK's world during the football World Cup and European Championships...
Look North had an item last week about the Rugby league world cup at Workington. Despite only covering the north east and Cumbria it seemed heavily in favour of supporting Scotland over Samoa. I hate it when the media automatically assumes we all support the other home nations.

It's Wednesday night, when Nicola Sturgeon and Alistair Carmichael debate.
